The big blue (/Le grand bleu). 1988. Drama.
Imdb.
As I have understood, there are two different endings. A French and an American. The original French, is the best (
spoiler:
the one where Jacques dies).

Blade Runner - It may be a movie from the 80's but was far ahead of it's time. It was the movie that pulled my nose out of Sci Fi books and made me start looking at movies of that genre.

Grave of the FirefliesDO NOT READ if you havent seen the movie it is a huge spoiler
SPOILER: The film is based on a true story. Akiyuki Nosaka lost his little sister during the war to malnutrition and blamed himself for her death. He wrote Hotaru no haka (A Grave of Fireflies) in 1967 to come to terms with it.

I second Oldboy, that movie was crazy and awesome.
One movie I would really recommend (besides all those other movies on every top database list lol) is The Sting- a great con-movie. Also the great dictator with Charlie Chaplin and Abbot meet the mummy ( a classic). Snake in the Eagles shadow is awesome (original kung fu comedy-starring jackie chan) - a nice random movie to watch if you want something different.
I could name a lot but im tired, maybe i will do it later, but these 5 should get anyone going.

Greetings All. I have decided to unpin this topic in favor of the "Rate the Last Movie You Saw" topic as that one seems to get a lot more action and serves IMO essentially the same function. Of course everyone can still use this topic possibly for more in depth descriptions of films and for lists of films. I welcome any discussion regarding this decision here in this thread. RobinBanks.

First time writer, been leetching for a while.. I'm looking for a movie to watch but everything that is catching my eye is out of synch(warzone) or not all the episodes are up..
So I'm going to recomend what I think is one of the greatest movies ever in turn you recomend one to me..
Mine is "man bites dog" or C'est arrivé près de chez vous.. If it's not here I'll do my part, find it and link it..
So someone give me ideas, please?

ok well i just want to thank you for recommending this movie to me. Never would have heard of it and now really looking forward to watching it within the next few days.
While the one or two movies that I am going to recommend aren't the greatest movies ever-one is by far one of my favorites to date and the other one is a movie which i recently saw and have a lot of respect for (simply due to the premise of the film)
The great escape (which you probably have seen) and the one i have joyful respect for is IP Man
If you have seen both I have an arsenal of films to recommend lol
