A Matter of the Heart
Each day hundreds of people search the Internet for an answer to the question of what color Jesus was. Was He black? Was He really white? Does it matter?

Frankly, this is a question that has always bothered me, because when the issue of Jesus skin color is emphasized, there is usually a racial link to it.

Why else would a person emphasize such a point?

Are people placing a lot of emphasis on the topic because they feel that if Jesus was the same color as them that that would somehow put them in a position of being able to better relate to Him?

Do people ask this question because they don't like a particular race, and would dare use Jesus skin color as a means to make that race appear to be inferior to theirs, or to cause them to feel that they have no part with Jesus, or that they are not as close to Him as their race is?

Whatever the case may be, I think there is something more important to look at here. Instead of asking what color Jesus skin was it would be far better to ask the question of what kind of heart He had

In other words, how did He treat people? Did He discriminate against others because they were of a certain race or color, or did He love all people the same?

I think it is fair to say that when Jesus had said,Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Mat 11:28 - NKJV), He was without a doubt referring to everyone! That is, it didn't matter what color a person was. Jesus invited everyone to become a part of His life. And this makes perfect sense too, since the Bible tells us that, There is no favoritism with God. (Rom 2:11 HCSB)

So, if you really want to know something about Jesus, then I think it would be far better to delve into His heart rather than to merely look at His skin.

After all, knowing what color His skin was really isn't going to help you get any closer to Him, because character is what counts most here; and if you want to learn how to better relate to Jesus then it would be a good idea to learn how to love people who don't have the same skin color as you, because Jesus loves them too!

Therefore, the color of our skin is not as important to God as is the condition of our heart. And if we want to have a heart like Jesus, then we need to listen to what God wants to tell us about His character. Of course, to do that we will have to stop looking at skin and start looking into the heart, Wonder why the bible is silent about what Jesus looked like, skin color or otherwise? Becasue it isn't and should not be a issue.

Hey Mark, any particular reason you're bringing these videos to the top of the board after they've been dead for 2 years? Maybe archive them or put them on the quicklist? You pushing more recent items to the bottom before people have a chance to see them.

No matter what, it IS massively important for common people to have positive role models from each and every race on the planet. Is is equally important in religion, in my opinion. Transforming the racial origins of a persons religious role model has to do with a persons outlook on a particular race in the first place.

It is true that the KKK deny that Jesus was dark skinned.... and jewish for that matter, and most probably will continue to do so. The KKK is a multi-generational institution...and further generations will be discouraged to believe the lies of the KKK in light of hard evidence that Jesus, if he existed in the first place, was dark skinned and jewish. The KKK would enjoy less and less recruits and would eventually diminish to obscurity, where only the most depraved members would be left.

In my last statement I was painting in bold strokes. I should restate...

Making it well known that Jesus was dark skinned and jewish would greatly diminish a persons likelihood for beleiving otherwise, and thus joining the KKK would be far less likely as a result. Also, if a dark skinned and jewish Jesus was the image that was on every calendar and painting and nativity scene, etc, then that would provide a powerful non-white role model... perhaps the ultimate non-white role model! That could ONLY be a force for non-racism in the world. No, it would not END racism.... but things like this help end racism.
