MegaShares has finally started coming to it's senses and doubled it's Free User download limit from 250Mb to 500Mb.
This is still far from perfect....the limit still makes MegaShares links useless (for most members) in the Divx Movies forum, but it does make MegaShares much more useful in the TV Shows forum.

Blah blah blah...
5) Free embedding
At very long last, we are very proud to state that VReel will be returning Freely Embedded DivX HD content to the web. Our free users will now be able to take advantage of embedding our content onto their websites. This content will be supported by one pre-roll advertisement, and will contain a linkback to VReel underneath the video window. This is to ensure that we can cover the costs of our content delivery, while also improving our traffic (and community) at home. In an event of one video causing extreme server stress (i.e: using more than 1gbit/s of bandwidth on a constant basis), this video may be switched to a temporary linkback to its video page on VReel until its popularity decreases. This is to ensure that our global video load does not exceed such a point that it may hamper VReel's overall service.

Well people, Stagevu has brought up a new scheme to prevent copyright infringement. This is what the admin says:
QUOTE
If you submitted videos to Stagevu, you may have recently been sent an email telling you that many of your videos have been removed. This wave of removals coincides with our implementation of Audible Magic, an audio fingerprinting software that helps identify copyrighted content. In the future, we will occasionally remove videos tagged by Audible Magic as infringing.
TaDa Audible Magic. It already screwed up 30 of the videos I have uploaded there and more than 100s for other users. If this goes on, you need not except more videos hosted on Stagevu in the future...

if it's been talked about several times .... may be this should be the time for such an opening ... may be just put all tv shows in one for now and all the Documentaries in another ... let them build up ... then once they get large ... break them in to there own genre pool ... not sure why QSS will not allow such an act to happen ... will it cost QSS more $$$ to do it ... if so l can understand why QSS will not start another DivX split ... l said my peace ... thank you .. currently we are putting all divx tv and docs in their respective forum. we have discussed this matter amongst mods and contributors and for now its best to keep it as is. this may change in the future. but for now it will stay the way it is. if the uploaders and link hunters can show that it can justify its own section, then we will take it into disscussion again

.....I'm not sure when this happened, but
MegaShares has apparently come to their senses.
I just noticed the free user passports are now good for 1000 MB.
This means we can use MS for more than just TV Shows and now have another fast reliable host for our DivX Movies Forum.
....now who wants to explain to all the noobs how MegaShares links work?

Stops @ 250? ....that was limit 2 changes ago. The free passport limit was then upped to 500 Mb and I was able to stream most 1 hr TV Shows (350 Mb) instead of just 1/2 hr ones (175 Mb) on
MegaShares. Now that they have changed the passports to 1000Mb, we should be able to stream most everything on MS. I will do some checking.....I know I recently posted The Green Lantern on MS so I will test that.

Could you provide the link that stopped at 250 Mb so I can test it?
caffeine
Jul 22 2009, 12:06 AM
Sure, it's this one:
http://ipb.quicksilverscreen.com/index.php...st&p=754729After I posted it, I checked using the gen'd link.
I went through the steps to get to the file like it says, renewed the ticket, etc. and it was downloading just fine, then it just stopped at 250MB. I didn't paste it into the DivX player, just downloaded it as I prefer using my KMplayer. IDK why that'd make much difference though.
**edit**
OK, I just tried it again just now and it's working...so IDK why it stopped before.
Still, it's 2 cd's worth..would the ticket run out or would it still be able to be used?
The first part is 700MB's by itself, so a 1000Mb 'prolly won't cut it unless the ticket is renewable.
sweetjimmy
Jul 22 2009, 02:45 AM
The 2 CD thing would be a problem....you would have to wait 2 hrs for the passport to renew and then you could stream/download the 2nd half of the movie.
For the most part, however, the addition of a fast reliable quality host to the DivX Movie Forum is quite welcome.
caffeine
Jul 22 2009, 04:05 AM
Yeah...fortunatly the parts are like 1:28 long each, so I just checked back on the 2nd half reloading the frame to check on remaining time while watching the first until the timer ran down and I got a new ticket.
Got both parts (1.36GB) though in sufficient time. Good speeds too.
Not bad.

Most times when i try to upload to Megaupload the thing starts and almost immediately goes to "100% Upload Complete". I had always assumed this meant the upload had failed. It seems this may not be true. Just for the heck of it i tested the upload link, ran it through the Divx Gen and posted it. Much to my surprise it worked. Albeit the buffering time was a bit slower than usual. By "almost immediately" i mean 5 or 10 seconds. there is no way a 350mb file can upload that quickly. Is it merely a failure by MU to correctly display what is happening? Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks.

I don't know if this is old news to anyone-qss searched.
I went to watch some videolinks hosted on divxvine and as the video was buffering some popup appeared but it wasn't it's own seperate page so I couldn't just close it. It stated that I was trying to watch Premium Content Area and that completing a survey is requird to move on. Filling 3 out with random cell phone numbers didn't work.
Here is a link to what I'm talking about
divxvine qss post linkThese links used to work without this scam problem. Like I said I have no idea if this is known but if not be aware -divxvine has screwed sharing of videos it appears.
