Just going back to the 'wrestlers in movies' debate...I think 'They Live' was one of John Carpenter's best...and Roddy the piper made that movie for me..Also, check out 'Hell Comes To Frogtown'...also with Mr Piper.
Oh..I almost forgot..Jesse Ventura was very good in both 'Predator' and 'The Running Man'
The least said about 'Suburban Commando' the better...

Just my opinion of course!

i just had my first experience of tna. i watched sacrifice tonight and thought it was awesome, it's nice to see some great fast paced matches that still look convincing. I love the wwe but i feel in recent years the in ring action has taken on a much more theatrical effect. after watching sacrifice i immediately watched impact and was equally impressed, i'm now a bit gutted i didn't jump on the band wagon earlier ! It's nice to see something a bit different especially the womens division which is actually of a good standard. I always enjoyed the wwe divas but felt in ring action was almost always a let down. roxy was about to become my favourite untill the head shaving incident ! what the hell is that all about ? is this typical of tna ? anyway i just wanted to share my views on this. anybody out there have any thoughts ?

TNA seems to set the standard for gimmick steel matches these days. The wrestling is superb to say the least.

As an avid watcher of just about any wrestling I can get my hands on(TNA,WWE,ROH,etc) I feel I must add my two cents.
Whilst I do enjoy watching WWE, I can't help but think they are missing the boat on one or two things.
Firstly, the tag divisions are woefully underutilised IMO. Spanky and London/Jesse and Festus/Carlito and Santino...I could go on but this is where WWE needs to pay more attention.
Secondly, some of the WWE Divas are also underutilised, and I feel the Divas could start feuds with others by being valets, this could maybe strengthen the Women's Championship?
Lastly(and this is my main bone of contention) the re-introduction of 'factions' although this would have to be closely monitored so it doesn't turn into ridicule(in it's dying days, this was one of the final nails in WCW's coffin, again IMO).
I won't go into the cruiserweight division disappearing from WWE,I could write an entire essay on how screwed up that is.
TBH, the cruiserweight X Division is the only real reason I watch TNA. I don't buy into the recycled Kurt Angle/Booker T Heavyweight division..and Samoa Joe's best work was done in Ring Of Honour. I like Joe but I hope he stays where he is at the moment, I would hate to see him go and be a mid-carder in WWE where they would undoubtedly bury him(maybe with the event of Umaga and Big Show, different body types will become more readily accepted in WWE.I for one certainly hope so.)
So..which do I prefer? Well if I'm honest I prefer to watch WWE programming, the production values and shine do matter, and comparisons to WCW certainly arise with TNA for me, and it shows in the ratings too, with the highest spike for TNA being the Knockout matches, and main events sending ratings way on down. Then I rate ROH above TNA..simply because ROH supplied most of TNA's cruiserweights(and also Samoa Joe and Abyss if I remember correctly?)and as I already mentioned, the X Division is the main reason I watch TNA.
Meh, I could make comparisons all day..but I've loved wrestling since I was a small child.I like all the shows. They have their different merits and downsides(some obvious and others not so)but it's all entertainment..
Cheers

haha! i know what u mean! well seen as you have brought up the subject of judgement day ,
give us your judgement day predictions please!!

well i'll go first then

Triple H vs. Randy Orton (Steel Cage Match) - hmm.. this should be a good match as we haven't seen this before.. well not that i remember anyway! but i'll watch this one cuz its steel cage but i see Trips comin out on top..
Winner - Triple H
Undertaker vs. Edge (World Heavyweight Championship Match) - ugh.. another edge / taker match. anyone else getting annoyed by this all the time?
Winner - Undertaker
The Miz & John Morrison vs. ECW Champion Kane & CM Punk - miz and morrison make a great tag team but i feel and im sure others feel too that they need to go their seperate ways . i can see this possibly happening tomorrow night. i dunno what they will do with the belts on cm punk and kane tho...

Winners - Kane & CM Punk
Mickie vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina (Triple Threat Match) - Well i reckon Mickie will prevail here but because Melina gets her own back on Beth Phoenix and screws her outta the title.
Winner - Mickie
JBL vs. John Cena - unlike the other matches, there hasn't been too much build up to this match. its also hard to pick a winner here as its usually the man who has been on the losing streak but both JBL and Cena have been on losing streaks since wrestlemania so it hard to pick a winner here . but for wwe's shear interest in Cena , im gonna say that.
Winner - Cena
Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels - i have a feeling they're turning jericho heel soon so he will prob cheat to win here. but i also think that this feud isn't over quite yet... but thats just my opinion!
Winner - Y2J
movieman

HHH
Taker and yes i very annoyed that edge is getting another shot
kane and punk
mickie
cena
hbk
mattdens
May 18 2008, 04:25 AM
I'd have to go with;
HHH
Edge - based on the philosophy that Taker doesn't need the title. He's just as big a star with or without a championship.
Miz and Morisson should retain the title's in my opinion. But since WWE don't realy care for the tag-team devision, they'll probibly just chuck em to Punk and Kane, just for the sake of change.
Mickie James
Cena - With an unclean finish (DQ, Count-out, etc.)
Y2J - With a heel finish (possibly interference from Batty-sta)

Movieman, take this for what it's worth but there has been speculation that Abyss was relying too heavily on hardcore matches, and TNA are trying to get him into a more 'normal' package (hence the unmasking) but that he is very limited in the ring.I've seen him do awesome things for Ring Of Honour but a guy that big can only go on doing that stuff for so long, and once he's fought everyone in a hardcore match..what's left to do?
The worst news I hear from TNA is that Jeff Jarrett wants another run with the belt.Hope this reign won't be as long as his last..LOL
My predictions for 'Judgement Day'..
Triple H over Randy Orton
Undertaker over Edge
The Miz and John Morrison over CM Punk and Kane
Beth Phoenix over Melina and Mickie James
John Cena over JBL
Shaun Michaels over Chris Jericho
For the record, I think Edge is pure gold.He is the hateable heel that WWE has been screaming out for.
I think Kane and CM Punk are going to have a feud with CM Punk using his 'money in the bank' shot for Kane's ECW title.
Beth Phoenix and Melina are really working together..I think LOL
JBL is well known for working 'stiff' in matches(putting some real hurt on in there) and I enjoyed the last 'I Quit' match..Cena is going to be great one day, and it's to JBL's credit for putting Cena over...
I think Chris Jericho is an amazing talent(but better when he plays a heel or bad guy)and against Shaun Michaels they can steal the show...
I'm looking forward to Judgement Day...The beers are already in the fridge:)

Vince McMahon made the decision to strip the Undertaker of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the April 22nd SmackDown taping. It is unsure why he was stripped other than the internal feeling was that Edge worked better as a champion than a challenger.

problem is smackdown is too repetitive in its main events. what we need is for wrestler to swap over. taker for hhh would be a start. jericho maybe swapping also.

LOTS OF NEWS FOR TONIGHT'S JUDGEMENT DAY !
=============================================================
-- There appears to be some confusion regarding a Big Show vs. Mark Henry match taking place tonight at Judgment Day. WWE.com does not have the match listed in the Judgment section, however, the match was mentioned in the SmackDown report, but later pulled. The POWER 25 section on WWE.com notes that a match is taking place between the two behemoths, although, they may have forgotten to change it. The caption for Big Show in the latest POWER 25 reads: "After proving to be so dominant against the top competitors for the World Heavyweight Championship last week, Big Show picked up a big tag team win over MVP & his Judgment Day opponent, Mark Henry."
-- A number of the finishes and angles for tonight's Judgment Day pay-per-view were up in the air as late as today. Vince McMahon read through the script of the show on Friday, but wouldn't finalize some of the match finishes. Some of the finishes for tonight's show weren't fully decided until today.

I'll be looking out for you guys too...
I would be in favour of a few wrestlers switching brands, but I won't hold my breath for Triple H to move to Smackdown.
Y'know..as much as I love watching WWE,I look at who they have in development/or curtain-jerking on Heat and it gets me so pissed off..
I'm sick of seeing 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan...he should be used sparingly..if at all.
Why aren't we seeing Matt Sydal or even Ken Doane(Kenny Dykstra)?
I know it's called 'Development' for a reason, but why not incorporate some of the FCW guys into Heat so we can see how they are progressing..instead of having them jobbing(losing) to 'Hacksaw'...
Phew...all done.
I'll get off my soapbox now and open another beer:)

edge is way a better champion than batista or cena... we need someone who looks and behave as a champion. Not a brawler. IMO. WWE is famous for having brawler champions.
WWE most famous brawlers (bad champions):
Batista
Cena
Lesnar (a good wrestler though)
Goldberg
Lashley
Benoit (the best technical wrestler though, but not as a champion)
undertaker (i still dun like him after all these years)
WWE Great champions:
HHH
Randy Orton
Stonecold
The Rock
Eddie G
Edge (could be the next HHH)
Worst champion:
JBL
Khali
That jeff hardy, if he's still remain as he is, will be another brawler. no longer a high-flyer i see.

Another good night, I enjoyed 'Judgement Day' greatly...the Women's Championship was short but good...with a truly "Holy sh!t!" moment.
In general, I find wrestling to be at it's best when you have a heel on top..with the babyface getting screwed at every turn..It makes it that much sweeter when the good guy eventually wins:)
One thing I can't wait to see the back of...Vickie Guerrero as Smackdown! GM.

i know it should really be JD talk right now, but still........more garbage going on, courtesy of the wrestling observer newsletter, including more on ps hayes, ranjin singh, and benoit:
More stories about Michael Hayes' racism are coming forward. According to the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hayes had said some racist statements in regards to Democratic front runner Barack Obama. There was fear that some of those statements would become public before Obama agreed to appear on Raw a few weeks ago. Apparently Hayes said, "How can we have a President that can't read the constitution?" and "If that boy gets elected, I'm moving to Canada."
The newsletter also mentions an interesting comment from a minority source on the WWE production team. The person noted that Dave Kapoor (Ranjin Singh) was removed as The Great Khali's manager and threatened to be fired for merely smiling during the in-ring ceremony for the 10th anniversary edition of Raw, while Hayes will be brought back to his position despite a history of racially insensitive comments.
While on the subject of potentially damaging press for WWE, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also notes that NBC's Dateline is looking to possibly do a show on the pro wrestling industry in late June, coinciding with the one year anniversary of the Benoit tragedy. Apparently it's not a done deal yet, however it almost certainly would happen if they got the cooperation of Nancy Benoit's family, who have not been speaking due to the possibility of legal action.

Well guys....what a night. JD was quite an experience to say the least! I haven't watched it on TV yet but I recorded it for later viewing today. I'll have to let you guys know if they edited the Vickie/ Undertaker thing cause that was the craziest thing I've ever seen at a live show. There was almost a riot.....no shit! The crowd did not like the finish at all!!! Neither did I. Being there live we couldn't hear a lot of what was said and I'm sure they cut the segment short somewhat because she stood on the stage for like 10 minutes just taking it from the crowd, they were angry! I bet they did some mighty fine editing also when it came to the crowd cause everybody was cussing and chanting bad shit at her and it was super loud!
What ever happened to Show vs Henry? Dark math before the show was Carlito/Santino vs Holly/Rhoodes.
Sorry guys, ( QSS, Schizo, Nightengales1, Rizzlablu ) I made signs for everyone but they wouldn't let me take them in. Bastards! They said that they were advertising! What the hell? Complete utter bullshit if you ask me. I complained at the Quest Center management window but to no avail, since I seen other signs that could have con strewed the same thing as mine.
My seat was next to the stage up close. It was cool because you could see backstage and see what was going on. We watched The Miz and Kane go over spots for their match. ( one of my highlights of the night )! We always knew what match was next cause you could see them getting ready for their matches while another match was going on. Vickie noticed us watching ( about the middle of the show ) them so she had a stage hand move two giant speakers over to try and block our view. ( Bitch, man I hate her ) It was funny because this backfired on her and the wrestlers just moved closer to us in front of the speakers. They were still hidden from the crowd by the curtains but we could see them still because of where our seats were at. Milena and Micky came over and hung out by us for awhile, we watched them stretch before their match. I'm still trying to catch my breath after seeing that up close!
Regal sat above Us in a little section above the crowd, not sure if he was on TV or not yet. I'll write more later but I've got to go watch the PPV now as I've only seen it and not really heard most of it.
Did anyone notice during the PPV how the background screen on the new HD set was screwing up? They had people trying to fix it during the matches.
Another quick note, if you watch the stage guys real close during matches, before and after, you can tell whos going to come out next or win or whatever by the way they are setting up the pyro and stuff. I talked to the guy in charge of all that since he was crouched down right next to us. He was pretty cool. It was neat watching how they do all that stuff.

Well Amarjahangir, your not the only one who wondered that, everyone at the live arena was wondering that as well. As
far as the chants that were going on at Vickie, most were obscene! Stuff like, fuck you Vickie, you suck, Vickies a whore ( I actually started that one ), die Vickie die, and so on. You get the picture.
I'm still trying to figure out the time delay from the broadcast cause she stood on the stage for like 10 minutes and took the abuse. I believe she even cried some.
