The leaders of the United States, Canada and Mexico met in New Orleans on April 21-22, 2008 for a summit to advance their plans to create a "North American Union," the merger of the three countries. http://www.nauwarroom.org/

House Concurrent Resolution 487, introduced back in 2006, which expressed opposition to a North American Union, and a NAFTA superhighway, never left committee.
And House Concurrent Resolution 40, which is practically the same bill, had several Republican cosponsors, including Ron Paul. I’m not sure, but I believe that this Bill is also dead.
