Time Shift looks at the historical, cultural and political influences that have shaped the lifestyles of Britain's New Age Travellers

Travellers have roamed Britain for centuries and New Age Travellers have adopted many Gypsy traditions in an attempt to become genuine nomads themselves. Challenging mainstream society has been central to their motivation, Inevitably this has brought them into conflict with landowners and the police.

Fergus Colville's Time Shift documentary takes a fresh look; following the story from the early 1970s search for an alternative way of life, to the present day, where legislation and increasing fragmentation have eroded both the appeal and viability of being a New Age Traveller.

Thankyou for posting this,,,i have been trying to find this for ages,,i lived in a bus for 2 years back in 1990 to 92/93 before heading off abroad so for me it was interesting having been at the stonehenge festival and many other free festivals,allthough i hated ever being called a new age traveller,,anyway thankyou very much

thanks nosleep, you're posting some great stuff, this was really interesting, i used to go to a lot of free traveler raves around 90/91 , -brilliant! the police never bothered anyone, but i remember one time they came in force and made the dj turn the music off until 8am. Everyone just hung around dancing to car stereos and chatting with the police then at 8am they gave us the ok and drove off, everyone gave them a big applause for being so decent and we raved our heads off all day, good times man
