Yeah as haleem said, first u need to check the type of dvd/cd that you are putting into the cd-rom drive and check that the dvd/cd is capable of being used on your drive.
If that's the problem, then just buy some blanks that will work on your drive.
Also in relation to what Minusturd said , make sure that the software that you have is capable of ripping a cd/dvd and also able to burn a cd/dvd. If thats your problem then I would recommend getting some proper software like Nero or ImToo DVD Creator ( the one I use )
You also mentioned that on "my computer" that it usually says blank cd whenever you put a blank cd/dvd into the drive. Does that mean that it used to say that previously to your problem?? If so , then you might have to check with your manufacturer of the computer/notebook ( Dell, etc.. ) in case the drive has corrupted.
