Raymond Paul "Ray" Mears (born 7 February 1964) is a British author and TV presenter on the subject of bushcraft and survival techniques, best known for the shows Ray Mears' Bushcraft, World of Survival and Extreme Survival.

The Coromandel Coast: Ray encounters the dangers of India's Coromandel Coast, where he learns to fish with the people of the Vadabalija tribe, whose specialised sailing skills allow them to live off one of the most lethal stretches of water in the world

The Barren Lands: Ray learns the finer points of fishing in Labrador, Canada, and visits the native Innu people at a winter hunting camp where porcupine figures high on the menu and the brains of unfortunate caribou are used to tan their hides for buckskin.

The Red Centre: Ray ventures into the Central Australian Desert to meet a tribal elder of the indigenous Aboriginal people and learn about their unusual navigation methods. He also picks up some nutritional tips, dining on a mixed diet of emu, grubs and ants.

Aboriginal Britain: Ray shows how our ancestors, Stone Age hunter-gatherers, used the resources around them to feed and clothe themselves.

Jungle Camp: Ray sets up a jungle camp in the Amazon jungle close to a native village, and sees how the Yekuana live in harmony with their environment.

Jungle Trek: Ray encounters spectacular waterfalls, clouds of butterflies and one of the most beautiful villages on Earth as he treks through the Amazon jungle in the shadow of flat-topped mountain formations called tepuis.

Africa Camp: Ray makes a return visit to northern Tanzania to spend some more time with the Hadza, sharing a love of bows, tracking and the landscape with true hunter-gatherers whose way of life demonstrates a profound connection to the natural world.

Africa Safari: Ray fulfils a childhood dream by experiencing a true safari, Masai-style. He teams up with a Masai warrior in Tanzania and embarks on a safari. Walking through a beautiful valley inhabited by wild animals, he spots a variety of useful plants and ends the day sleeping under the stars

Birch Bark Canoe: As far as Ray is concerned the birch bark canoe is the best vessel man has ever created. Ray has always wanted to construct one and in this programme he works with Algonquin canoe maker Pinock Smith, one of the few people left who know how to craft them using traditional methods

Canoe Journey: The canoe is the most natural way to travel and to get close to wild places. Ray paddles down the Missinaibi River, a river as unspoilt today as it was three hundred years ago when it was the essential route for the fur trade canoes.

American Prairies: Ray takes a journey into America's past as he travels in the footsteps of Jim Bridger, one of the mountain men who opened up the route to the Pacific Coast of America. Ray makes a bull boat using willow and buffalo skin and spends time with the Shoshone

Sweden: One country where the ancient skills of Bushcraft are alive and well and in daily use is Sweden. Ray sees how pine tar is made and used on traditional skis before spending time with the Sami people in the north where he takes a dog sled journey into the snowy wastes.

Four Seasons: Ray shows us how Bushcraft brings a new perspective to our countryside and its changing seasons. He points out the foods and plants that are available, from pig nuts to lime leaves. He shows us the best way to see badger and deer and tells us why he likes to sleep out whenever he can - whatever time of year.
