Kudos to Ross and his camera crew for having the bollocks to go to the front line with "B" battalion.
Although I liked his thingy on gangs, I thought he was just playing up to his "tough man" image, but I'm well impressed with what he's doing here. At least with the gangs, they knew it was T.V. and behaved accordingly-the taliban don't give a flying wank and he was as likely to get caught by enemy fire as any other member of his battalion.
Serious respect for being that brave-I panic if I have to go to the 24 hour garage after midnight by myself!!
(yeah, I'm not quite as macho as some might believe)

I think all the talk about Ross Kemp being a fake 'hardman' will stop now. He's done a great job covering this. Hopefully all our boys will stay as safe as possible out there, and give Afghanistan the help it obviously needs.

I doubt if those children were "attacked" by soldiers, I hope that no soldier on either side would do that. War is a horrible thing, but saying that soldiers are in the wrong and are intentionally killing kids is not on. Blame the people who send them there, or blame the people who are the cause of the war, not the men who are doing a job to feed their family or get through life like the rest of us.

I'm against the killing of any person, regardless of what they have done or who they are. That's my personal view, I don't think it can ever be justified, accept in self-defence.

I have a friend who's on his second tour in Afghanistan, and another who has just gone into Sandhurst for officer training, and I take acception at your silly generalisation saying "These guys" are brainwashed murderers!" I hope and think that my friends are not cold blooded killers, are not brainwashed, they are in the army for their own reasons, they are not bad people, but they may have to do bad things, this is reality.

Now you are of course entitled to your opinion, and I encourage you to voice it, but reality is not black and white, right and wrong, soldier Vs child, there are shades of grey everywhere and stating absolutes like you do, does nothing but ferment more bloodshed and hate.

No, I don't think you can call killing a "job". In a job you always have the option of quitting. In the middle of a desert, fighting for your life and the lives of those around you, while trying to fight insurgents and trying to keep civilian casualties to a minimum, that's hell. I doubt any of them realized what they were getting into when they signed up. I have a friend who just came back from serving 18 months and he practically begged me not to join the military.

Once you're on the field of combat, there's little you can do but go on. You can't just drop your gun and demand to go home, the penalty for a deserter is court martial. And don't think the soldiers will come back unharmed, the psychological tolls of the war will become a burden for the rest of their lives.

If anyone's to blame, its those who sent those soldiers, ill-prepared for they were about to face.

When i said that soldiers were "brainwashed murderers" i meant that they have been brainwashed (by false propaganda) into commiting murder. "Osama & Saddam did 9/11 cos they hate our "freedom", etc... Though some of them really do get off on killing (especially the Americans). I feel sorry for most of the young soldiers. They don't know what they're doing.

I said I didn't think they were attacked by soldiers, meaning I doubt soldiers purposefully tried to kill or wound children. While I'm not saying innocent civillians are not sometimes wrongful casualties of conflict, I find your use of sensationalist websites (which carry no water as proof, you don't know how these people were injured/killed) quite disturbing. It reminds me of pantyshots of Britney Spears getting out of cars in the papers.

I'm sure you get a warm fuzzy feeling saying OMG war is wrong, and it makes you feel like a better person, while you take no concrete action to make a change. After all, the citizens of the countries have the blood on their hands because they are keeping the political status quo in place through democracy. You cannot blame the soldiers, while you sit at home and play the armchair warrior, benifiting from the system that started these wars through the comfort of your country having schools, hospitals, relative political freedom and SUVs to drive your kids to school in. It is the citizens who carry the responsibility of this war, even more so than the politicians. Saying it is the soldiers fault is silly, and not putting the responsibility on the right people, the citizens, you keep the polititions in power to maintain your countries stability, keep inflation, oil prices and consumer prices down, while people are dying. All the while at the same time you are forfilling your perverted notion of charity by saying soldiers are bad, brainwashed people who kill kids. You are killing the kids. And if anyone is brainwashed, it isn't the soldiers, it is people like you. The best way to enslave people is to make them believe they are free.

Some of u lot make me sick slagging of the soldiers. You all need to remember that if was it not for our soldiers in ww1 and 2 and soldiers now we would be in a very different society. What have you done in your lifes that makes you so special, i have lost friends in that so called war and unfortunatly have very very close friends there now they do kill children and women and also the people who are trained to kill them those same people training small children to go out on the streets with guns and kill our service men. Our soldier maybe trained to kill but what kind of people must the iraqis and afgans be to train children so young to do the same. I do wonder also would you feel the same if a friend or family member was killed in a terrorist attack i very much doubt so.
