I don't think its possible to say exactly what your monitor is going to do next. If you have an older CRT, you may just want to get a new one rather than muck around with those things. If its a new monitor, you may just want to call a computer store near you, and see if they can't help you. It may just be someone screwing around with the color preferences on your monitor, or maybe something complex and dangerous. If you have a CRT, DO NOT OPEN IT!!! CRT's can zap you with enough power to kill you even after you unplug them.

have you speakers near it, this can can cause that kind of prob, if you got degauss option on your monitor try that.

well if u tried the gamma thing and didnt work.......look at the screen's cable thats hooked to the CPU, make sure all pins are straight , if not try to straighten the bent ones carefully...only check that if u have recentely unplugged the cable so maybe while u pushed on it hard when hookin it up....
happened to me once and my screen was all yellow

If you are gonna buy a new one, try as someone else suggested "giving it a whack". Ten years ago i had one that the picture kept turning off all together and whacking it brought it back. I gained an extra 6 months usage out of it
