Anyone know anything about the new series of 24? I hear it will not include CTU.

I hope its better than season 6, it started off great but i felt it ran out of steam in the end.
Any thoughts??

is the new season going to start as scheduled ? is it going to be as lame as last year ?

the 2 minute trailer released a couple of months ago looked pretty cool , but last year was pretty weak . i'm hoping that keifer sutherland was arrested driving drunk home from the filming of the last episode of the year knowing that this is going to be the best season of 24 yet .

I agree last season was a bit weak, but still better than a lot of the other shows on TV.

I have heard that because of the writers strike 24 will not be starting on time.
Has anyone else heard more than specultion?

As far as the upcoming season's plot - it looks like they are taking a different direction with the plot, which is good.
Pretty sure they have signed up for 3 more seasons including this one.

Id go for a few Jack Bauer movies after that cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif

(From the official Fox press release.)

Fans have been waiting almost a year for the return of 24, television’s most addictive drama. On Sunday, November 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the wait will be over as FOX presents a special two-hour prequel event.

Shot on location in South Africa , Jack Bauer battles an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, the prequel will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season Seven.

"We're excited about the prequel because it explores Jack's complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from 24," commented executive producer Howard Gordon. "Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone’s commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans."

Celebrating its 150th episode this season, the series has resumed production on "Day 7" and will unfold without interruption in its regular time period Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) beginning in January 2009.

Set in Washington , DC , "Day 7" finds CTU dismantled and Jack Bauer on trial. Bauer’s day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague TONY ALMEIDA (Carlos Bernard) returns. Meanwhile, President ALLISON TAYLOR (Cherry Jones) leads the country alongside White House Chief of Staff ETHAN KANIN (Bob Gunton) and First Gentleman HENRY TAYLOR (Colm Feore).

A national security crisis prompts an investigation by a team of FBI agents including Agent JANIS GOLD (Janeane Garofalo), Agent RENEE WALKER ( Annie Wersching ), Agent LARRY MOSS (Jeffrey Nordling), Agent SEAN HILLINGER (Rhys Coiro) and security specialist MICHAEL LATHAM (John Billingsley). Although CTU is no longer, CHLOE O’BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and BILL BUCHANAN (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events.

As part of News Corp.’s global commitment to fighting climate change, 24 has pledged significant and innovative changes to its production practices with the goal of saving energy and reducing carbon emissions.

Created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, 24 is a production of Real Time Productions and Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Jon Cassar, Manny Coto, David Fury, Kiefer Sutherland and Brian Grazer are the executive producers.

i'm so looking forward

Thanks for the update. I can't wait either. I am so addicted to Jack Bauer. I love this show because it is a billion times better than most action movies that go out in theaters. This has put a smile on my face :D .

Kiefer Sutherland will be back to play Jack Bauer for an eighth season of the hit counterterrorism drama “24,” but the show’s longevity will depend on its writers, the actor said Tuesday.

The 42-year-old told The Associated Press that “24,” currently in its seventh season, will start shooting its eighth in May. He spoke during an interview in Hong Kong to promote the new 3-D animated movie “Monsters vs. Aliens,” in which he voices the character of General W.R. Monger.

Sutherland, whose gritty portrayal of the counterterrorism agent has made Bauer an iconic character, said he’s committed to the show that’s revived his career.
“If I was going to liken ‘24’ to a girlfriend, ‘24’ has been really good to me. And I need to be really good back,” Sutherland said.

“There are plays I want to do. There are so many different things I would like to do, but I was so fortunate to be part of something like ‘24’ that my focus is still on that right now,” he said.

Sutherland said the show’s future also hinges on its writers’ ability to shape its story.

“The real pressure is placed on the writers. It’s a real question about how much they feel they can give and what they can do,” he said.

Sutherland, whose movie credits include “Young Guns” and “A Few Good Men,” said he hasn’t thought much about his career after “24” and isn’t worried about being typecast as a Bauer-like government agent.

“I will do the work I want to do and people can accept it or not,” he said.

Working as a voice actor on “Monsters vs. Aliens” was a “fantastic counterbalance” to playing Bauer, he said.

“The relief was unbelievable. For five days a week, 14 hours a day, I’m doing Jack Bauer on ‘24’ and then for five hours on the weekend, I got to kind of proverbially let my hair down and play this character and talk like that and be a kid. I felt like a 5-year-old,” said Sutherland, simulating the deep, raspy voice of his character.

“Monsters vs. Aliens,” which is about a jailed group of monsters who are freed to help battle an alien robot, opens in U.S. theaters on Friday.

Looks like we got a few more seasons left, BRILLIANT!!!

Couldnt agree with you more. 24, season 6 definately ran out steam. But not on all accounts. I think that was when Nadia took over CTU. Didnt think that was too special. Also that other guy who was like a Jack Bauer number 2; looked the part even better that Keifer, but his Oracle skills when delivering the lines didnt cut it. Although Jack Bauer father is good. But simple ass 24 is the best!
