To my favourite tv-shows belong: prison break, house, it's always sunny in philadelphia, the office (uk & us), arrested development (all time favourite!), curb your enthusiasm, extras and entourage.

mine are a mix of shows that are out right now and ones that were cancelled. and i'm not going to name the obvious ones that people have already said such as grey's anatomy, house, the office and family guy.
in no particular order:
1. Wonderfalls - Awesome, awesome show that was cancelled after 4 episodes were aired of the first season. All 13 episodes of the first season are out on DVD though.
2. Pushing Daisies - I can't believe no one recommended this one yet! it has a wonderfalls feel to it and is unlike any other show on TV at present time. It's on ABC on Wednesdays at 8.
3. Higher Ground - It was on for only one season and got cancelled after the season finale but to this day it's still one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.
yep, that's about it. if you like quirky dramedy type shows that are a mix between amelie and a lighter feel of tim burton, wonderfalls and pushing daisies will be perfect for you. if you like angsty shows with troubled teens, higher ground is great.

Carnivale is fantastic.
I like the office, trailer park boys, the sopranos, curb your enthusiasm, extras, rome, the simpsons, the boondocks, weeds is slipping imo, top gear, hotel babylon, twin peaks, fawlty towers, believe nothing, bottom, arrested development, the pythons, the daily show
and i love the entire CSI franchise to yell at the screen for how bleeding obvious it all is. they'd never ever catch a bald criminal, for he/she (ieuw) would leave no HAIRS. seriously, want to commit the perfect crime? just drop a sack of barbershop hair at the crime scene. In that case they'd probably arrest the barber though but hey, you're home free.
Also, check out

Carnivale was so good. I only wish it could have been longer. As a fun fact, the preacher in the show, Brother Crowe, is played by the man who does the voice of Mister Krabs in Spongebob.

Thank you, soluna. I recently got into Wonderfalls, having seen Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies before. Think I liked Wonderfalls the most out of those three. Threads like these are a difficult read for me, because usually the shows mentioned are the most popular shows on television. It's difficult to put a recommendation behind a show that is crammed down viewers' throats every week. It's almost like asking someone a recommendation for a soft drink, and them suggesting Coke. As if you would have never thought to drink it. Although out of the shows other people have mentioned, Carnivale would be my personal favorite.
Since you love Wonderfalls, I will trust your recommendation for Higher Ground and check it out.

One reason I love forums like these is that I find shows that I would not on my own because I don't have cable.
Unfortunately, many of the shows I have enjoyed most got canceled far too early. E.g., Firefly, Carnivale, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies. I recommend all of these.
I finally got around to watching Six Feet Under, which I have enjoyed, but the only links I could find anywhere to the final season are on Youkou, and I can't get them to buffer and stream past the first 10 minutes of each episode.
Some shows I still enjoy:
Battlestar Gallactica--you must watch from the beginning of the miniseries to catch all the nuances
Dexter
Lost
Heroes (although the writers better get it together before they stomp out my love)
Stargate Atlantis (not so great this season, but this and SG-1 both had some good story arcs)
Mad Men (not very popular on QSS, but it's 1960's retro is genius)
Damages (you need to watch the episodes in order, or it won't make sense)
I don't usually watch sitcoms, but Big Bang Theory is very funny. I could swear I went to uni with some of the writers. I should look to see if there is a thread on the show, and see how the humor translates (not only to those for whom English is a second language, but just outside the US).
I also generally don't stay interested in "procedural" shows very long, but I like House. It's all about Hugh Laurie.
As for shows not mentioned already in this thread, if you love the cheesy goodness that is Bruce Campbell, you need to check out The Adventures of Brisco County Jr and Jack of All Trades.
Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys were also camp faves of mine. Maybe I expected the same when Raimi/Tappert teamed up again to do their new series, The Legend of the Seeker, which is not so tongue-in-cheek. Xena was far more creative and interesting.

Top 5 never miss an episode shows, no order...
* Battlestar Galactica (eagerly awaiting the return!)
* Stargate SG1 + Altantis (best concept for a sci fi show... ever!)
* Heroes (makes me feel like a kid again... wish i could fly!)
* Family Guy (did you know that 1 in 10 QSS members haven't heard that the bird is the word!!!)
* Pushing Daisies (Noooo you can't end this truely quaint, surreal weekly escapism of mine!)

Crime
Wire in the blood - Gritty and oh so very British drama, serial killers v. Psychologist and Dectective inspector
Law and Order: Special Victims unit - Gritty and oh so American drama, a squad and their ADA of the day tackle crimes involving rape or vulnerable people or both.
N.C.I.S. - Sometimes serious but otherwise lighthearted group of people fighting crimes involving the US navy
Bones - An FBI agent, a Forensic Anthropologist and a group of lab rats investigate murders where the body is less than recognisable. Funny, serious, addicting.
The Mentalist - A guy who can 'read' people works with CIS to solve crimes. Usually lighthearted but sometimes sad.
Comedy
Scrubs - The hi jinks of JD and his pals at sacred heart hospital
Green Wing - British humour, medical comedy.
Family Guy - Offensive yet hilairious
Supernatural
True Blood - Not to be dismissed as 'yet another vampire story' this show has guts, sex, drugs and a heck of a lot of blood.
Sci Fi/Fantasy
Stargate Atlantis - Good guys find atlantis, then inevitably invade the galaxy it's currently in and expose the people there to horrible genocidal creatures and then leave. Job done!
Firefly - A spaceship with two war veterans, one priest, a mercenary, a prostitute, a doctor and a mentally unstable girl. Add an adorable mechanic and a nutty pilot et voila! instant fun.
Merlin - Quaint little comedic drama about Merlin's boyhood days with arthur. Giles is in it too.
Others
Lie to Me - these folks know when you're lying.
E.R. - the angsty journey of young doctorlings just trying to fit in and help people.
I know some of you have already recommended these shows, but me oh me oh my, I love 'em!

theres a lot of great anime, if you havent watched much anime lately, then check out the most popular first
Naruto, Bleach, One Piece. of the three i like one piece the best. my current favorite shows are in the sports anime category. Major and Hajime no Ippo. are probably my current favorite shows right now. ALL the anime i have so far listed have a ton of episodes. One Piece has been on air over TEN years now. Major doesnt get subbed very quickly so its kinda a pain waiting. and Ippo has just finished the latest season.
if you have already watched these or dont want to watch them well just pm me and ill give you a whole list of shows, and some great anime sites including a pretty decent Divx anime site.
