Ok I know I have posted a problem like this before and at that time the solution worked.

What happens now is every time I go to boot up the computer after shutting it down or go to reboot, I lose the start navigation start.wav sound. then I have to go in the properties and click - no sound - apply - windows default - apply

Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it?

erm have you got it set to not come on in the first ploace i mean look aorund and play around with some buttons other wise maybe tehres a general problem with xp or vista w/e u have. Also i think if you ahve any programs that give a custom boot screen or welcome screen or anything like that maybe interfeering.
