Full Version: Qss Style.
I really like the theme on qss. The banner up top and the minimalistic style are so cool I've actually found themes and skins to match qss for every application I can skin. What does everyone think of the QSS look? I would add more gray tones to some of the fonts and borders.. but other than that its beautifully simplistic and damn smooth. : ) imo check it out.. Tru dat... I would like a mellower background color. It's too bright at 3 am. I dunno, a dusty perrywinkle or a pastel mint green/grey. Beggars can't be choosers tho. How bout some old school amber on black, right?

: ) sounds interesting.. I really like the off white background tho. Some gray around the edges may make it a little less intense. It should stay lightly colored tho because its aesthetically appealing to the mass majority of people.
Dude, I live hear man. I would really dig something easier on the eyes. PM Neels man. Give him some options though, like a portfolio.

Oh man believe me I'd love to, but I wouldn't know where to start. I don't design skins but if I gave half as much effort to learn as I do finding custom skins around the net I'd prolly get a handle on it in a week. : ) I have average photoshop skillz : (

Oh yeah for you or anyone else who wants to know, the firefox buttons I use are from a suite called 'Nocturnal' which can be found at www.deviantart.com, but the colors are applied by the windows theme called 'Aero' which also can be found at www.deviantart.com

What do I need to know to get started? Just some basics I'm not asking you to write me a skinning for dummies novel. rofl
We are absolutely interested in new skins, but two things go against it for us 1st is time to implement and 2nd is server load of additional images on the server.
That being said its something that would be great, remember it also requires the css + images, I was thinking a dark version would be the simplest alternative style, for example - just by simply inverting all forum images (modding the hues on any coloured imgs) and then inverting all css colours - I think that could look really good as a dark sleek look with a limited effort needed.

but in general i just like to choose my skin for a board. defaults are so boring. so if any of you guys could provide some that'd just be frakkin' sweet.

I quick PS render there, it would be a nice weekend project to invert the all lights to darks, site wide as an option.

like you said m8 server load, site has been crappy lately, so we dont need to weigh it down with extra crap

i could design one on my own, but i think it is better to work with an admin as i am designing it to get their opinion.
a theme could easily be built that looked good and utilized less images than this one, which would reduce the server load. i have actually built a theme that used less than 5 images total.
