ok... i have noticed that people are starting to argue more about players and worth n such in the liverpool thread...
so i am making this for you to vent about berbatov or whomever you would like smile.gif
hitmewitdarock
i will go first... i think berbatov is overrated cus he really doesnt finish the job...
i sure love watching him work his magic but if none of the magic ends up in the net then whats the point?
phil-east
To be honest, as an arsenal fan i should hate Berbatov but i just don't. I think he is pure class, he gives man utd a great outlet when he plays and makes the team keep the ball a lot more. I think a lot of people just see him as a striker and judge him on goals alone. This is not what the guy is about he is there to create and give an outlet to a midfield with a far more difficult job than they had last year. Fergie has changed utd's style after losing the rat faced winker and is now using two forwards and a more traditional 4 across the midfield. This means utd have a lot lower chance of keeping the ball in the middle of the park with only 2 central midfielders rather than the 3 he used last year. Berbatov will sit deep and always be available to the 2 centre mids and will hold the ball and let the rest of the team overlap before picking his pass. This is a pretty new way for of playing for utd after last seasons pace filled atacks with the rat face, and berba is key to it. It doesn't always work though like the game vs liverpool where he didn't make himself any space and the midfield was overrun. I think he still has a lot more to offer utd and will play a big part for them as this system settles in.

that's just my two penceworth, feel free to pick it apart and either agree or disagree.

Good thread idea hitme.

Wow, a neutral agreeing with me - Shocker!

so your not gonna start a Berba Thread?

QUOTE(kwacka @ Nov 5 2009, 09:23 PM) *
As i have said this is not a comparison thread,if you wanna compare Berba and Keane feel free to start a thread.

You cry about us throwing facts at you in other threads about how overated Berbatov is, then you post shit like this?

Edit-

He doesn't play well against any top team, not just the Liverpool game. Sure he's good against the small clubs - a world class player turns up in all the games. Take a look at Torres, Drogba, Eto'o, Villa, Anelka - Fantastic at all levels.
phil-east
how many games has he played against the top teams ? He was left out against Arsenal to make room for giggs as a third centre mid. I'm not sure if fergie does this against many other teams but would be interested to see how many games he's started against top class opposition. The players you mentioned also have the advantage of playing for top teams for many years and are accustomed to regular champions league football and are also used to the pressure of playing for these teams. Players becoming an instant success like arshavin and torres are a bonus but it is often the case that players stepping up to the top 4 level need time to fully adapt. A prime example of this is Bergkamp who struggled at inter and then took almost as full season to adapt to life with arsenal.

good player, def not worth 30m.more like 15m. i met quite a few united fans who dont like him

he sadly is another veron imo

Thing is, Arsenal aren't top class opposition, not anymore at least. Apart from Fabregas and Arshavin who I rate very highley, they look very ordinary compared to what they used to be. Their Golden days are over, have been for awhile now. Even this season, their decent start won't last. Sure they are good - They aren't what you'de call great, though.

If you're going to make excuses such as not playing at a top team - He's playing for Man Utd. He was none existent most of last season. Sure he gives assists - if you play £30m for an out and out striker, you want goals surely? He's been at Man Utd for over a season now and has done nothing worthy of being called a World Class Striker. Like I said before, Robbie Keane has a better goal ratio then Berbatov... is he a world class striker? God No. He's a good forward is all, nothing special about him at all, just like Berbatov.

You only have to look at the EPL goal scoring record of current to realize it.

1 Torres 10 in 10 (Goal against Man Utd, not even fully fit for the last 3 games too... )
2 Drogba 9 in 11 (Goal against Liverpool)
3 Bent 8 in 10 (Goal against Liverpool & Man Utd)
4 Rooney 7 in 10 (Don't really know... no denying this guys skill though, he lives for football)
..
9th Keane 5 in 11
..
14 Berbatov 4 in 11 (Wigan, Sunderland, Stoke.. lol)

He's overated, very overated. Not worth half what United payed for him.
phil-east
I'm not saying he's an out and out striker like the others, He isn't and never has been. He has always been the creative force in all of the teams he played for. Like i said in my first post I feel fergie brought him in to link play and hold the ball up. I could very well be wrong as nobody knows fergies reasoniong for the signing but i have never classed him as a goalscorer.

Arsenal not being top class opposition is very harsh, i'm an arsenal fan and obviously biased but i see us as top class, our champions league record is testament to that, final, semi finals and quarter finals consistently for 10 years is in my book a top class team. Your reasoning would suggest only man utd and chelsea are top class opposition in the premiership. I find that hard on both arsenal and liverpool who despite 4 years of relative nothingness are still "up there" so to speak.

So yo have Berba as an out an out forward like Drogba(the best out there by the way).
You think Berba plays as our out and out striker do you?
The guy has a scoring rate of 1 in 3 in his career, and you think we bought him as an out and out striker?
Sums it up for me.

Arsenal not top class oppo........hahahaha,do they go 2nd today if they win,and you consider Liverpool top class oppo?
Enjoy the Europa league,it may be your only way back into Europe next year(you wont win the FA Cup)
Sums it up again

Stop Whining Tams, its all you do on a grand scale.

Define whining please.

If you have could understand any of my posts the last month you'de know I've said Liverpool are utter shit this year - But you choose to take my posts out of context as usual to try and gain a point in an argument you know nothing about, as usual.

Arsenal aren't a top quality opposition and haven't been for some time time now. They have came nowhere close to the EPL for a good 5 years... their players aren't that good apart from the obvious in Fabregas, Arshavin and Sagna, more or less like Liverpool in Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano who are the only consistent players in the squads.

Also - Torres 10 in 10 games in the EPL while half fit, with utter shit performers around him is a testiment to his World Class status as the greatest striker out there atm.

I will enjoy the Europa league also, I'll stick with my team through thick and thin. Loyalty, look it up.

On a poll I read not too long back about the worst signing of last season, berbatov was 2nd, only behind David Bentley with over 5k votes.

"Sums it up for me."

As you should know Polls can be staged to say whatever they want, unless you believe every poll released-i doubt.
So dont read too much into them.

As for loyalty, how is that defined?

Supporting a team you were brought up on,who were winning nothing and sticking by them through thick and thin(70`s,except 77).

Or is it supporting a team that won everything and jumping on the bandwagon?

Or is it that you actually have to come from the town the team emanates from?

Im confused,it seems to change so much with some people, but i know which i am thanks.

Well, in my 15 years as being a fan of Liverpool FC we haven't won the league. The only team that I have come close to liking as much as Liverpool, and is still some way off, is Newcastle United, due to me being located here for the last few years, which I will be sad to depart from in a 12 days time, give or take. Terrific, friendly people who are passionate about football and who are very welcoming as people. They define loyal fans. 40k attendents in the 2nd division (Champ.. w/e).. that's loyalty. I'd like to see how many of the day-trippers would visit Old Trafford if they were in the same boat.

Anyways, enough "debating" for me with such people. I have training to do, can't spend my life posting on a movie site with such delecate personas all my life.

Amar, I wouldn't even post here if I were you mate, they are condesending bullies who in actual fact, have no idea what they are talking about. Just biased fake fans, with no knowlege outside "their own" club. On a real football discussion board they would get ripped to threads by people who know their stuff.

Time for this unstable, angry British Citizen to be trained for war.. lol. I'll have a laugh at those comments some day. Adios, and do take care.

You'll Never Walk Alone.

i just enjoy the sport of it all smile.gif
and i am not going anywhere (i hope)
you guys have been a great read for me and helped me learn more about the game and made it more enjoyable....
but it would be nice if certain others could get the hell over themselves and enjoy the game for what it really is... A FUCKING GAME smile.gif
kwacka
it is the "others" that make the thread through, passion, opinion, blind love, ignorance, whatever you like to call it...
and some would disagree its "Just a Game"

there is an inbred hatred between some teams, and as much as its tried to be kept it in check it will seep through . sad really.

Typical comment from a foreigner, you have no idea about the sport if you think like this, simple. It's not the beautiful game just because of the skills on show - It's because of the dedication of the fans also. Filled out stadiums throughout England every weekend, mostly without fail.

Oh yeah, Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd. Is Terry still shit kwacka? First you said Rio was the best in England, Torres danced past him half fit to prove you wrong, then you said Terry was shit, who nets the winner today against your team. It's a regular thing with you, getting things wrong everytime your fingers touch the keyboard.

Anyhoo, I'm off. Just thought I'd clear that up, one last laugh at the United fans before I log out on this section of the forums. The majority of you haven't a clue what you're talking about. Chelsea will win the title, Liverpool are awful atm and have no chance of challenging, we will come 4th at best (and will win the Europa Cup), United 2nd, Man City 3rd.

Quote me at the end of the season.

shut the door on the way out.
couldnt leave without one last dig eh!
Chelsea showed today that playing badly yet winning somehow will win you a title, when backed by consistency, shame the scousers dont have the bottle for it or the title would be intresting.
Terry today showed exactly why England will not win the WC....he has no pace, and will give penalties away.
I hope to christ Rio is not beside him in SA,as he will be made out to be a fall guy.

don't agree with that. villa, wigan, fulham, birmingham and burnley.... all draws. still gotta play chelski n liverpool twice, man utd and arsenal. thats 6 games that they could get no points from. i know liverpool are playing pash the now and they already beat arsenal at home but its not inconceivable that man city could get no points from these games. i still think come the end of the season the top 4 will be in the top 4 positions.
