hello there! smile.gif
recently when trying to stream a show/movie the stream will stop at certain points for absolutely no reason and i have to refresh the page and pick up where i started. Before this week, this was limited to roughly every 7-9 minutes on megavideo and zshare, i'm a patient guy, this i could deal with - however now, it's been stopping every 4-5 minutes on youku and tudou, every 2.5 minutes on megavideo and all zshare videos i try to watch tell me that the movie isn't there (not in a dead link way, ive tried fresh links and all)
but eh yea, if anyone had any thoughts on the matter? i didn't know what to do so i deleted cookies, cache and history in the hope something might happen (i dunno why i thought this!) but alas, nothing! so any help would be greatly appreciated! smile.gif
cheers, rowan!

Have you checked your internet connection, perhaps there's a fault/being restricted or even dropping frequently. One of my routers had the habit of frequently dropping the connection when downloading streaming. Try buffering something and watch the lights on your router. That probably isn't the cause as the Zshare problem sounds strange, have you got a zshare link it's happening with and i'll check if it works for me just in case?

Run virus and spyware scans.

Other than that, i'm clueless sorry.

so it happens on nearly every video site, what about divx,if not it might be something to do with flash, uninstall, reinstall.
are you using wireless, could your wireless be resetting, does the video still load when it frezes.
just going through as many options as i can.

well i tried this zshare link as soon as it was posted: http://www.zshare.net/video/676272232c17030e/ and got the message: "The video you were looking for could not be found, sorry for any inconvenience." the same message i get for them all! apart from the actual dead links

as for my other problem, im using lan - the problem is, i'm on the university internet thing so i can't fuuter with it like i would want to! eh i'm running linux and havent bothered getting divx yet basically because my laptop wouldn't buffer it fast enough! but ive been at uni 2 months now, and this week it just started fecking up majorly! but when it freezes, the buffer bar fills up completely and the video just stops!

link works fine, would the uni be blocking access.
if you download the vid can you watch.

I had this same problem a few days ago , it just seemed to fix itself after a while , its likely to be your browser crashing or your connection i would think , have you tried a different browser ?

I've had the same problem with ZShare since Tuesday:

- Videos on ZShare.net don't work under Firefox, just get this message:

- The same links stream fine under Internet Explorer.
- The same links stream fine under Firefox when embedded (e.g. when hotlinked on a linkhunting site).

I was thinking it was an incompatibility with the site's code and Firefox, but another PC on my router accesses the page and streams the same videos just fine... so I'm confused. :S

Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing it? I've checked a whole laundry list of things and have also tried to recreate the problem on a different system, with no luck.

I've also noticed that a lot of the other (inferior! laugh.gif) linkhunting sites have stopped posting ZShare links - I imagine because of the same problem, though that's pure speculation.

Hopefully a solution'll appear soon... unfortunately there seems to be no info out there on this problem at the moment. sad.gif

EDIT: Here's a list of the things I've tried, in case it helps anyone:
- Cold-booted the machine a coupla times to "clean out the cobwebs" - no change.
- Tried using Firefox Portable v2.0.0.20 with no add-ons - makes no difference.
- Malware scanning with Spybot/Malwarebytes/ESET - removed a couple of minor infections, system is now clean with no more infections reported.
- Logging-on to ZShare - makes no difference, videos still 404-ing.
- Checked the HOSTS file against the HTTPFox entries for the ZShare page - with no luck.
- Using Firefox on a different PC on the same router connection - plays the video fine from a ZShare.net link.

As a different PC linked through the same router can see the videos on ZShare.net, the problem would seem to be on my machine... so it's not an ISP or country block. Also changed my MAC a few times in case ZShare was possibly blocking it - no change.

I simply can't see why the video files - which are definitely available to be streamed - are giving 404 errors on one machine and not another. I'm beginning to think this may be the result of settings being corrupted from a bit of malware; definitely leaning towards a repair install, hoping it may fix the problem.

see i thought that but it doesn't make sense that every other streaming site works, i can still use torrents and it's only started happening this week!

but bascially the general consensus is to just swap browsers then?

eh just thought of another problem - if i switch browsers, i can no longer use firefox add-ons and therefore can't bypass megavideo the only way that works for me so is there no techies out there that know what exactly is wrong? also i dont think it's anything to do with my connection as it stops each time after the exact same amount of time watched! 2:27!
markgg
did you try the IE tab for firefox
rowanaboat
well i cleared my cache and cookies again, restarted the laptop and it's been working since! i duno why it didn't have an effect the first time! but thanks everyone for the help! and cheers mark, if it goes wrong again ill give the add on a try! (might try it with the zshare problem too smile.gif )
