I remember the crazy anticipation of waiting and waiting for the Christmas trees and decorations and downtown lights that turned on the day after Thanksgiving. It was so special... and waiting for the Sears and Penny's toy catalogs to show up was really huge!
Now it's like... is it over yet?

Truely sad.

Our locals Tesco's had their Christmas range on the shelves for over a month now! I swear it's getting earler and earlier.

Each year the Xmas goods go on sale earlier and earlier and each year the stores report that they're not making as much profit as the year before. Soon the Xmas sales will start in july, the January sales will start in September and Easter Eggs will hit the shelves in December, although why they don't sell Easter Eggs all year round is beyond me i'd happily buy them yum.

I guess is more for the young who want presents, and for the older generations who want to see all their kids, grandkids again.
To be fair christmas could be just what we need in a recession. More money spent is more money into the economy

It's not the marketing that bugs me so much as the songs. I am not looking forward to hearing Christmas songs in every store I go in for the next two months.

That and
The Worms are two of my favourites, Fairy Tale in New York for Christmas and the worms for the Halloween recital as a kid lol.
Them with Kirsty will no doubt be an Xmas classic for another 20 years.

besides, I love Christmas... I just don't like that they start the merchandising of it so early. I wish they waited till Thanksgiving like they used too.

Remember the tingle you got after Thanksgiving when every store and street started putting up Christmas decorations? Remember the sense of excitement? I love Christmas , I just hate the over commercialization.
