I saw this flick way back and remember the following about the soundtrack -
(Quoting Imdb reviewer - The movie soundtrack plays Gustav Mahler's 1st Symphony (this piece sets the whole tone for the movie in my opinion). Mahler is great for tragedy (remember Death in Venice)).
