Mine would have to be a tie between the original Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, but there are SO many good ones.

I totally forgot about shaun of the dead but that has to be up there along with zombieland.

I think the best is the original dawn of the dead. it is very seedy and no questions asked when taking the zombie folk out. I like that quality.

Assault on Precinct 13 isn't a zombie flick, but it's still good. tongue.gif

There are lots of good zombie flicks...I've only seen a small portion of them, but out of the ones I've seen I'd say some of my favourites are (in no particular order):

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The Return Of The Living Dead (1985)
Day Of The Dead (1985)
Zombi 2 (1979)
The Dead Next Door (1989)
Re-animator (1985)
Dead And Buried (1981)
Braindead (1992)
Ruggerman
I'm a straight up fan of Zombieland even though shaun of the dead was great as well

perhaps it isn't what you would classically define as a zombie flick, however to me it is.
crazisane
All of the above are great movies, but I have a soft spot in my nostalgic heart for "The Zombies of Mora Tau" that is so bad it's camp! The other would be "From Hell it Came" although it wasn't your typical zombie, but more like a walking tree stump with a bad disposition. (Sigh) so many zombie movies, and never enough time! lol
tindie
Braindead AKA Dead Alive
bankernails
In spite of that it doesn't really follow the typical zombie ideology (except for the helicopter part in the second one), I'd have to say 28 Days/Weeks Later. Definitely. It seems like the genre is getting bled out as fast as the effects are getting better. And also Braindead/Deadalive, for sure.
yoobastid
Shaun of the dead and 28 days later.
Nattens
"Day of the Dead" (1985)
SpiderCarnage
Shaun of the Dead/Zombieland

Trebek's list is pretty solid, I would agree with his list.

@Nietzsche2

The Happening wasn't a zombie flick! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Theres a lot of great zombie flicks but I'd have to say Night Of The Living Dead (1968) is my favorite, a true classic! "They're coming for you Barbara!"

Assault on Precinct 13 is in no way shape or form a zombie movie, its an action movie that doesn't even contain a single zombie....and technically neither is 28 Days Later as the antagonists are infected humans that are still alive and thus can be killed by conventional means. At the end of the film a few are shown lying in the street starving to death. A zombie is a reanimated corpse, and they do not starve to death. Zombie movies have parameters/rules just like vampire or werewolf movies.
