So 8 days ago, symptoms came on in less than an hour.
By 3 am needed IV fluids, luckily had on hand and did not need to go to the ER.
(Yeah, yeah, a few of y'all know I am a nurse)
Has been a fever fogged 7 days.
When I called our local health department, they said they could not take the info as I was not hospitalized.
Locally the docs are not testing, only treating, so as to not have the burden to report.
I was lucky, my pcp gave me an rx a month ago, so was able to start Tamiflu immediately.
According to my local health department:
IF without a fever for 24 hrs, you are no longer contagious.
I pushed that out to 36 since most of my community patients are elderly.
Seems they are now limiting the rx of Tamiflu to a select group, under 24 over 65.
Even with washing my hands 3 gazillion times a day I still caught it.
My advice:
If you suffer a sudden onset, eg <2 hrs of feeling fine to worshiping the porcelain god,
quarantine yourself.
In general:
Wash/hand sanitizer every 10 seconds.
Carry sanitizer with you at ALL times.
Do NOT touch your face till spring.
Drink as much as possible.
This is definitely being under reported.
Stay well friends,
and Canada, sorry for the fever driven incomprehensible PM's
