I can't seem to get these video files to converted to a standard divx format to watch in the DVD player.

If anyone can figure out the proper method please give me a heads up.

Did you even test it to see if it worked? If not thanks for the attempt but I've already tried numerous methods and software's to get these files converted. They aren't your standard AVI files. They are quick-time files that only play in VLC which to me is rather strange. I can get them converted but I loose picture, sound stays but picture is gone. I've tried just about every "all in one" converter programs out there. I've tried converting them to xvid and divx but nothing seems to work.

Dr DIVX works fine, i've been using it for a coupla years.

I'm downloading your file just now for a test, but for some reason Megaupload is running slow for me tonight.

the link you posted is an mp4 file, I didn't download it or try to convert it, I just assumed it was a standard mp4

so based off the information you provided, yes Dr Divx will convert mp4 to divx.

There was nothing in your 1st post about quicktime files, so I don't know about that

Edit: looks like kabaal is going to give it a go, but if there are other file formats that you're trying to convert, then please provide more information. If you're not sure what codec is used in the file, open it in VLC and click the tools menu and select Codec Informatiion and post that info here.

Your right I was very very vague in my original post. I apologize I should of added that. Me and viper where talking about this in chat a few nights ago and even he thought it was strange that the files where in a quick-time wrapper and wouldn't actually play in quick-time. Seems a bunch of custom filters or something was used. I figured I'd post one to see if any of the videophiles could figure out the proper method to get it done.

See my edit in my previous post about getting the Codec information.... If VLC will open it then it should be able to tell you what codecs audio/video are being used.
Then post here the file extension and the codec info and then we'll know how best to proceed.

Says:

Video
Codec: avc1

Audio
Codec: mpga

Dr. Divx freaks out and can't seem to identify what codecs where used. It won't even allow playback.

Right, avc1 is an h.264 codec and Dr Divx should handle it with no problem. Or you could wait for kabaal to respond.

Edit: just saw your msg about dr divx... not sure what's going on, but if kabaal has no luck I'll give it a go.

I just restarted the program and it seems to be working now. I'll give it ago and see if converts succesfully. I'm wondering if my dvd player will allow h.264 though. I guess I'll find out in a minute.

Its working fine for me so far, just now its converting to DIVX and before that it played on VLC, MediaPlayer and Winamp.
Kabaal
Tried it at normal stock settings and highest settings and worked fine both times fella.

Edit - I'll burn it to disc in a minute to make sure, but you should be fine with it.

Edit2 - The whole process worked normally and plays on the DvD player fine.
