Since the early days of the 2012 theories when David Wilcock was channeling an entity named Ra people were told that 2012 was really all about enlightenment. This idea is the one we are supposed to believe I think, Yes I know, this is a bit of an insult to those who think that they have uncovered the idea that 2012 was really about a consciousness shift or spiritual evolution as opposed to some doomsday situation through their diligent research. Well, Im sorry to burst your bubble, but this has been the line even back when 2012 enlightenment was supposed to have occurred in 2000 (it was pushed back after it didnt happen). Nowadays, it would be very difficult to find a 2012 website that doesnt make a claim similar to the following: Many people think 2012 is about the end of the world, but that is what stupid people think, we smart people know that it is really about a great cosmic shift in consciousness Ok, they might be a little more subtle than that. But what I am saying is that you only think your the only one who knows 2012 is supposed to be about spiritual evolution, this what what you were meant to think all along. The idea, if properly presented, has many uses for a global government. One of which will be acceptance of the genocide of dissenters of that new system. Im not saying the people behind promulgating the ideas are part of a secret cabal or anything (for the most part anyway) in fact, I think they really do believe their sources, in Wilcocks case his source is Ra and as we will see, there are many types of Ras out there, and they are extremely concerned with getting those who are willing to listen to them, to tell the world about this coming enlightenment in or around 2012.

This whole 2012 thing is a total myth. My best friend is a Mayan antiquities professor here at UT and if you don't know the whole 2012 came form the Mayan calender as a time of rejoicing a change if you will. The end times BS is just that BS. ( but wait didn't we have that already with Y2K, Planes falling out of the sky, cities crippled, dogs and cats living together,its the end of the world as we know it.)

Personally I think you should focus on the worlds major problems such as pollution, honey bee decline and starving/ sick kids,racial discrimination, etc etc etc ad nauseum. If you put half your effort into one of those real issues, I think you would feel much better and the world would be better for it.

you aint seen nothin yet. i found the worlds longest web page that has the specific dates of the tribulation and rapture. they study the bible and mathematically pin these dates down. if you check back about once a week, the dates are different. (end of last year, September, now this month) its the most screwed up mess ive ever seen. but can be good for a few laughs.

In Revelation 8:1 it talks about a silence in heaven for 30 minutes, and in the scripture above in Daniel 9:27, it could be read: “he shall reaffirm his campaign promises with his many followers for one week”. As you probably remember, Obama’s 30-minute info-commercial occurred on October 29, 2008! Never before in the world’s history has anyone given a 30-minute info-commercial “confirming his campaign promises with many and that if he is elected he would change the world”. What are the odds that this event occurs exactly 2520 days from September 23, 2015? Why 30 minutes? Why not 15 minutes? Ever since we have found our key date of September 23, 2015, Yom Kippur, when Jesus returns to earth. Many of us (including myself) have been backdating 7-Jewish Years, 2520 days (7 x 360 day Jewish Year) to determine the start of the 7-Year Tribulation period. You see, once you find the start of the tribulation, you know that The Rapture is on or before the start date. Ok, once Rosh Hashanah passed by last year, everyone knew that the beginning of the 7-Year Tribulation had to be 2520 days from September 23, 2015 or October 29, 2008. That date came and went and there was still not a start to the 7-Year Tribulation! The final Jewish feast on the 2015 Jewish calendar was Hanukkah, December 7, 2015. This look like a great candidate, for it is the date that Jesus is anointed King of Kings in the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem after his return. So when you subtract the 2520 days from this date, you come to January 11, 2009 or 1/11. This was even better, everyone knew that this could be the day, especially since many people (including myself) were seeing “111” on a digital clock. When this date passed, I was not a happy camper; I want to go home to Heaven to be with Jesus!

Has anyone read Hal Lindsey's "The Late Great Planet Earth"? LOL...back in the day when I was a beliver I read the book like 20 times. Hal Lindsey is still considered a reliigous leader-figure even though his book about the end of the world contained things that never came to be.

Oh, and the "Left Behind" series really pisses me. If you compare "The Passion of the Christ" with the "Left Behind" series then it's clear that Christians cannot distinguish fiction from non-fiction, fantasy from reality. -And they want it that way. The truth, evidence, and reality are concepts that have no meaning to these folks. All that matters to them is that they believe.

I think this is the main issue. Christians, and almost all religious people for that matter, do not care WHAT they believe. They only care HOW they believe it.

Dan Dennit refers to this as belief in belief. I wholeheartedly agree that this is the case, as clearly evidenced by the behavior of religious people. This also explains the relationship between high education and low religiosity.

Actually... if the Mayans successfully have predicted the end of the world then doesn't that lend quite a bit of credence to the Mayan religion? Like... if their prophecy is real, and completely mathematically precise, then that totally trumps every other ballpark estimate of the end of the world.

Simply put, the Christian prophecy is vague while the Mayan prophecy is specific. It seems that God is talking to the Mayans a little more closely than the Christians. Therefore, either one of two things is happening here. The Christian god granted the Mayans prophecy into the end of the world..... or..... the Mayan gods are real while the Christian gods is fake.

Since the Mayan religion has no similarities to the christian religion, and since their customs, laws and culture is quite a bit different, I am inclined to believe that the Mayans were not contacted by the Judeo-Christian god.

Therefore, if 2012 is the end of the world, and this prophecy was granted by the Mayan gods.... then the Mayan gods are much more likely to exist... as opposed to the christian god.

Have I drawn the wrong logical conclusion, or am I on to something? Religious stuff tastes best when it is half-baked, so I am sure few religious people will want to draw things out to their logical conclusions with me, This is really more of an atheist thing to do.

Firstly, nobody seems to have asked the Mayans what happens when their calendar ends. The BBC World Service did exactly that, and the reply was "We get another calendar, silly!"
The preceeding event was Obama becoming POTUSA, again nothing negative happened. In fact a few fundies did jump off a cliff in despair which is always a good sign.
Before that, the biggest scam since the Bible - Y2K. If anyone had an IQ of more than the average shoe-size, they would have changed the date on their PC to 2000 (actually to Jan. 1, 2001) and see what happens. We did this in 1997 when the big scare came around, and it was with the greatest pleasure we gave these parasites the bums rush. Ours were the only computers that didn't have the "Y2K fix" and ours are the only computers that are functioning perfectly to this day.

Isn't the soul eternal? if so, then the soul should be timeless just like god. There should be no beginning nor end. But the bible says you will live forever after you die. Doesn't this also mean you should be alive before you were born? An eternal life must mean you were alive before and after you were born. However, when we consider all the times before you were born(which I'm sure you don't remember or account for), your soul becomes finite not infinite. This is purely based on the premise that you weren't conscious before birth...

If your god is omniscient, he must know what you'll do tomorrow. Omniscience - Knowing everything infinitely. If he created this reality, he must have planned everything in your life. (you can argue that you still made the choices in your life based on free will, however he still knows what you will do infinitely before you were born, so who's responsible for how this universe behaves?) Does this mean you have a destiny? Doesn't this render your free will an illusion? when only god knows what will happen tomorrow but you don't? (God always said he has 'plans' for you) Think about it...
If we consider these ideas, we can extract one fairy tale from the 'good book' and analyze it. When adam and eve ate the fruit in the garden of eden. Did eve have a choice? Were eve's actions determined before she was born?

On a side note, how does eve eating a fruit justify north korean kids starving to death, it's the same analogy to the egyptians first born having to pay the consequences for the actions their parents made, makes no sense, we wouldn't use that logic in our modern legal system ..... i.e. you murder someone and i have to subsequently kill your son or daughter.

I've seen many people asked Iza questions in the forum and many of those questions have gone unanswered. She picks the questions that she can easily backed up with bible quotes and deny other questions that can not be backed up.
