I'm a fan of another website that has a video series about video game movies and was wondering what some of your favorites are? For me it would have to be Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill.

Trying to think of a good movie based on a Video game...

None, they all suck from a purely artistic quality, direction, story, script, cinematography, plot, etc, etc, stand point.

That's not to say they can't be purely fun to watch but they all do suck.

The closest thing to a close representation of a movie and also the original source material is Mortal Kombat in my opinion, and i only say silent hill because im a huge fan of the games and would like to see more movies based on that series, especially if they can somehow turn Sean Bean into the James Sunderland of the second Silent Hill game.

Silent Hill would have to get my vote also, not because it's a movie masterpiece but more because its the best out of a bad bunch. Video game movies for the most part tend to be horribly done.

Silent Hill, if only for scene where pyramid head rips off the girls skin and throws it at the door.

For me, Allysa utterly raping bible thumper leader with the mass amounts of barbed wire threw her nether-parts trumped pyramid head.

Silent Hill was terrible IMO, none of these game-based movies ever follow any actual storyline or even manage to get close to the games. For me, it'd be Final Fantasy: Advent Children even though it's a CG movie, it still does the best at sticking to a game and not messing with the general plot too much.

Although.. Mortal Kombat was pretty wicked.

Final Fantasy Advent Children...not a particularly great movie but in terms of video game movie its right up there.

Mortal Kombat most likely, they do all suck when you think about it but MK was fun. The last time i saw street fighter i enjoyed it but i was also 11 years old then. Super Mario was also pretty fun. I do think though that some of the upcoming movies are going to boost this genre like Prince of Persia or Gears of War for example.

it's the tail wagging the dog. Almost worse than zombie movies.

for me it's Pong: The Movie. Bruce Willis as the left paddle and Steve Buscemi as the right. That film was epic win all over.

FVII Advent Children

Love it, its still one of my favorite movies.

Super Mario Bros. and Mortal Kombat are classics as far as video game based movies go
