The BBC gives over a whole evening to an 'investigation into the supernatural'. Four respected presenters and a camera crew attempt to discover the truth behind 'The most haunted house in Britain', expecting a light-hearted scare or two and probably the uncovering of a hoax. They think they are in control of the situation. They think they are safe. The viewers settle down and decide to watch 'for a laugh'. Ninety minutes later the BBC, and the country, was changed, and the consequences are still felt today.

It's a "mockumentary" kind of like the Blair Witch Project. Looks interesting!

Saw this on tv ages ago, when its was originally broadcast on Halloween night in 1992. Caused a hell of a storm of controversy, cause its presented as a mockumentary, people ended up thinking it was real and calling up the BBC cause of some of the distressing scenes in the programme, it even got linked to the suicide of a mentally handicapped man, who apparently watched it. Still very good, though not as scary as when i saw it ages ago, but still predates stuff like Blair Witch, and is a lot more effective.

This was awesome, I so wish I would've seen the original broadcast, however I hate the backlash this thing got, it was Halloween, why were people mad about being scared?

Decent example of cinema verite. (A revolutionary French director pioneered the form, but I can't remember his name.) 7/10 bones. Thanks for posting.
BTW, in England, they refer to a "glory hole" as a small room. laugh.gif

If this is what scares you English, bitches, you have a long way to go......Fuck I can only laugh!!! The video sucked ass. This was so not true. I'll give you a 10 on the fake ass ,"Oh my god, be proper", but a zero on content. I've seen the real poltergeist from your town, this was not one of those. Please stop with your long drawn out stories. This put me to sleep, before I had to fast forward to be interested. Do you want real scary stuff, look up Korean or Japanese horror flics. English have no business in the horror industry. The English suck at horror, or the supernatural

Wow! Sounds like someone has a bit of a chip on their shoulder. You realise that this show was just a Hallowe'en hoax intended for T.V only..? Or are you just too inept? Why do you feel the need to bring race into this anyway, you bigot! "The English have no business in the film industry"???? Excuse me? I'm actually Swedish, but if you knew anything about film you'd have heard of a certain Mr. Alfred Hitchcock. You're obviously clueless so I won't even bother asking if you've heard of Michael Powell or Pete Walker. Oh, and Danny Boyle...
This is a film site. If you want an excuse to vent your frustrations about "the English" go elsewhere. Moron.
