http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQHC2X_udLQsomeone went to some trouble to make this video including some of cinema's best villains.
this video is good but not complete, who else as a villain has to be added?
zed from pulp fiction?
the agents from the matrix?
Jack Nicholson from the departed?
Bill or Elle from Kill Bill?

baddest man ever

Who said anything about
real people? We're talking about movies. So yea, Darth should be number friggin 1.

DeNiro was absolutely gnarly in Cape Fear, but you should really watch CF with Mitchum as the antagonist. He dominated the screen!!!
Bardem from No Country was,in short, very affective as the villain. The scene in the gas station was just intense,i really feared for the old guy behind the counter.
Phoenix stole the show to me in Gladiator,i wanted nothing more than to see his blood spill across that arena.
Spacey in Se7en was top shelf shit!!! That dudes acting chops are limitless! lol
Nicholson in the Shining still unsettles me to watch to this day,the character never really transforms into the maniac but more so,he just stopped hiding and started being his normal self,if im confusing you, sorry.
I guess im focusing more on the actor vs the character, movies can have great villains but depending on the actor, the character may never be as large as its written. For example,Fiennes played dholarhyde in red dragon, tom noonan also played dholarhyde in Manhunter, Same character but two dif levels of villain,Everywhere that fiennes excelled, noonan excelled more so.just my opinion but...

Michael Wincott as Top Dollar in "The Crow." He was perfect for the role and played it very well.

Tsk. How could you forget old Scorpy? (and yes, there was a Farscape movie: so it counts!)

Asami in Audition .....Shudder
Lord of Darkness in Legend. Curry was, for me, only redeeming thing in this film.
Little Bill in Unforgiven. I love villains who think they are the good guys.
Orson Welle's character in Touch of Evil
Tom Berenger's Sgt Barnes in Platoon.
I would be remiss if I omitted: Evil Roy Slade in Evil Roy Slade
Kabaal
