Thanks again to the people at QSS for providing me a means to watch the fight, especially shaolinblade. So if you watched the fight what did you think? For me im just

shocked. I'm not a huge fan of either fighter, but the way Roy Nelson won was so strange. I mean his hits looked so soft? Right? I didn;t feel like Kimbo was in any real

danger than suffocating in Roy Nelson fat. Hats off to Nelson thou he was able to execute his game plan and won the fight, but does he really think he can take on

Brock? or Mir?

club level fighter at best , him and kimbo both. These guys had no conditioning or displayed any real talent .lesser of two evils. If they bring kimbo in at a later date im calling a b.s. publicity stunt on a totally controlled show.

Well when he comes back i think he'll win that fight. The only reason i say that is Dana White said Kimbo well be fighting on the Dec. Card which makes me think that Kimbo had to win to show face. Or is Dana just going to use him till the popularity is gone

Roy Nelson got Kimbo in a bad position TWICE, he just doesn't have the knock out ability, remember in the house when he was saying "even if they are light punches the ref has to stop it"....is that really the kind of fighter that thinks he can be UFC champ.

Kimbo has more potential, he needs to work on his ground game and take down defense but clearly he can be good if given the proper training and enough time.

Its like Brock vs Mir II, we all know who had the most technical skill in that fight but Brock was just too big, once he pinned Mir down and locked up his arms it was all over. Like Rampage said "none of us could get Roy off us". It wasn't a thrilling fight, it was like a school yard fat ass bully sitting on a kid and slapping the back of his head hardly a display of an Ultimate Fighter.

Like how you put it. My best guess is that Kimbo will be brought back to fight later in the series because one of the contestants pulling out because of injury.

I agree with all. Injury is going to happen, Kimbo gets back in, Dana gets his numbers(more signs that these things are setup).
As far as the fight: very weak. I hate the "fighters" that use there weight like that, with exploiting UFC rules to win a fight. It's not fighting. The guy even said even if he was slapping him, they have to stop the fight. What a pussy and and weak ass fighter. I can't wait till he gets his ass handed to him.
Maybe that will be the publicity stunt, Kimbo gets back in and a rematch occurs.

A couple of things I would like to point out. 1st off the TUF competitions are not for people who will be straight away recognised as title contenders s the "is that really the fighter tht thinks he can be UFC champ" comment is out of context, they are there to get a contract with the UFC, not win the championship.

As for Kimbo having more potential, thats ridiculas, he's a brawler with some KO power. Roy Nelson has a lot mre potential, he has similar standing skills to Kimbo but without the power and a bit less reach. Roy however is 10x the fighter Kimbo will ever be when it comes to the ground game. Roy Nelson was beating Andrei Arvlofski in Affliction and had him in side control until the ref stood them up wrongly and AA KO'd him.

Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir is not a good comparison at all. Compairing Kimbos ground game to Mirs is a joke. Roy Nelson is MUCH better than Kimbo on the ground.

As for my thoughts on this fight, I think Kimbo looked half decent standing but he's a fish out of water when he's on his back. The ref gave Kimbo every chance to improve his position but he didn't. Some refs would have stopped the fight at the end of the 1st round. Nelson went in with a great strategy (remember they don't have weeks to study their opponents or train for these fights), he won without taking any real damamge. People might complain tht they were weak punches, but it doesn't matter, if Kimbo isn't defending himself then the ref HAS to stop the fight.

I acknowledged the fact that Nelson got Kimbo in a bad position twice. As far as his comment goes I don't see how I pulled it out of context, he said what he did, if his eventual aim will be the UFC heavyweight belt but with an attitude like his he isn't going to get far.

Roy was simply too much weight to move, just like Brock was too big a mass for Mir to move....that was my comparison and a fair one at that at no point did I claim the ground game was equal. I know Mir had better technical skills but couldn't shift Brock because he was too big.

Did kimbo really look like a fish out of water? He stopped a a few take downs, he managed to reduce the distance between him and nelson when on the floor in the first take down but what could he do when he had that huge belly over him? Come on even Rampage acknowledged that once he got onto there was not much he could do.

You cannot say he will never be a title ccontender from that fight. It was his 1st figh on the conest where they have no tapes to study their opponents with, no training camp and they arn't even training with their normal partners. At the time in TUF1 if Forrest Griffin said he was aiming to be champ one day then nobody would have taken him seriously either.

Brock didn't use just brute strength and force to hold Mir down, he used very good BJJ to do it, combined with his gorilla strength. Roy Nelson did the same, and is also a Renzo Gracie Black Belt so he has got to have a lot of technique behind that belly.

Maybe the fish out of water comment was a bit unfair, but his ground game looked quite poor.

Nelson did what he had to do, got the crucifix easy and landed un-answered shots and Herb Dean had to step in. Nelsons cardio is awesome for a tubby.

Also, James McSweeney hasn't had over 100 kick boxing/thai fights. Nor is his MMA record 12-4. He is the biggest bullshitter on the UK MMA scene and I hope he gets KTFO.
Trampant
Roy is gatekeeper level at best and Kimbo is all hype

Anyone post on cagewarriors or sherdog?

That quote doesn't really sum it all up. Roy was winning the fight and had Andrei in side control until the ref stood them up for no reason and then that happened.
