So I guess they've been wanting to make a movie about Lazar for several years now and about four years ago Damon was very interested in playing him and it's just been given another greenlight, and Damon is still at the top of their list.
If you don't know who Lazar is I suggest you read up on him and watch his interviews. This reporter named George Knapp basically begged him to do an interview because he claimed he was a physicist who worked at Area 51 and did reverse engineering on UFO's in the 80's as well as a bunch of other things. He is widely considered a fake now because no one could verify that he attended MIT or that he had previously worked at Los Alamos as he had claimed. Well the odd thing is that Knapp discovered an old newspaper article from the 70's with Lazar on the cover displaying a jet car he had made and it had him listed as a physicist and working at Los Alamos. Knapp also discovered an old pay roll list from Los Alamos with Lazar's name on it, as well as interviewed several people who are know for a fact to have worked there who say they worked with him on several projects, so it appears as if at least that part is true.
Another striking thing about Lazar is that he has never once tried to cash in on his claims and actually avoids the spotlight and doesn't even like talking about it with people if they happen to notice him in public. There are also other people who claim to be in the know who back up everything he says and it genuinely looks like there is a campaign by someone to discredit Lazar. Unless it's been proven since I last researched it, the negatives about him was that no one could find any evidence he went to MIT and found that he didn't graduate high school near the top of his class like probably most people of his intelligence would have. However he has made two hydrogen colliders from scratch that he houses himself as well as other things in that field which isn't bad for someone pretending to be a scientist.
