In the near future, eight astronauts from five countries (four women and four men) undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission covering thirteen billion kilometres. With the eyes of the world upon them - everything they do is monitored, and every emotion they feel, scrutinized - they soon discover that their real assignment is not at all what they thought.
Interesting new series. Starts a little slow but is definitely progressing well. Watch

I'm getting bored of it,the show is like a Stephan king novel,2000 pages of getting to know the characters and a measly 10 pages of the actual story, and they had the cheek to drop serials like surface,Sarah Connor chronicles etc.

Your trying to prove that this show is bad by comparing it to a Stephen King novel?

This show must be really good because Stephen King is one of the best writers of all time

i think they are trying to build alot of suspense with this and i do agree with you on the slow part and i doubt it will get better (specially the landing and finding weired creatures part that someone said) because as i recall their journey i 6 years long or something and they were in like 1 month last time i remembered so it will be a while before they make it

i think the expectations of this show need be lowered because the slow part is here to stay. Although i could be wrong you never know.

I saw it advertised as grey's anatomy in space today on digg. That kind of sums up my opinion of it. I honestly don't care for the constant flashback about who is fucking who. I just don't care, I want sci-fi for gods sake. Last episode was pretty good but I don't have alot of hope for the show.

Have patience before you give the show up as a lost cause. This is a brand new show and since the afore-mentioned timeline for their journey is like 6-7 yrs, they have to build the characters and set up their backgrounds for the viewers. This is often slower and a bit boring, but necessary if the show is to make any sense down the road a bit. I agree though that who does who is not high on my list of background info I need to know, but maybe it is important in future epis. Writers/Directors have their own agendas and we are simply at their mercy. I would guess that by Christmas time the pace of the show will have picked up considerably and that the storylines are a bit more substancial. *crosses fingers*
or I could be full of **** and the show is on life support by that time.

I can't believe i have sat and watched seven episodes of this boring trash, well that's my limit, i'm switching off.
I'm also really bored with the whole flashback thing that so many shows are doing now, ever since "Lost" did it. Seven episodes and nothing has happened of any interest, how the hell did this show get to the production stage i'll never know. Most boring show to come out of america in the last twenty years.

Guess it just depends if you like action-scifi or 'life in sci-fi worlds'.. err.. or something like that.. can you see what I mean?
It's not action based, but they're still painting a picture, telling a story... that's not going to be for everyone.
I'm still holding reservations about it turning into the new Lost.. I hope it's not though.

It's probably canceled. There are no air dates listed for next week or the following. They may let if finish but I wouldn't expect a second season. Hell they may pull another Kings and just run off the last few episodes in a few months time. But as of right now the show's fate is in the air.

Defying Gravity cancelled due to poor ratings
Having been cancelled due to poor ratings, Defying Gravity has had its series finale before the last filmed episode had aired.
Defying Gravity was a series about an interplanetary voyage to visit planets of the Solar System. Currently there are no plans to air the unaired episodes that are just six days away from Venus, which was the first destination.
Did you see this series? If so are you disappointed that this series has been cancelled? You can read more about Defying Gravity at examiner.com.

Yes but it seems it's future is still up in the air.
I'm starting to get a bit sick of anything that's half decent in the sci/fi genre getting cancelled. It's not as though we have a mass amount of choice with new productions. It's as though we're going to be stuck with the same old rehashes of cop/lawyer/teen shows in the future simply because they are the most popular and the rest of us be damned.

Fear not, followers of the Antares. ABC has not canceled "Defying Gravity." Not yet, anyway.
That news may not be as comforting as it was intended to be, though, as the summer science-fiction series has vanished from the ABC schedules after only eight episodes, leaving its viewers dangling by a thread at the prospect of discovering the truth about the Antares mission and the mysterious "Beta."
Set in the near future, "Defying Gravity" is considered a "Grey's Anatomy" in space with complex character backstories and intermingled relationships thrown into a life-or-death scenario. And, since its premiere on ABC, the show has taken a hammering in the ratings with the first episode pulling in a disappointing 2.4 million viewers.
Like many shows, "Defying Gravity" has since suffered additional ratings erosion and recently hit an all time low with its latest episode, "Love, Honor, Obey" which drew 1.6 million viewers.
The show's publicist, Nicole Marostica, has recently confirmed that series has not been canceled and will in fact return to ABC's schedules once the network finds a place for it. Apparently, the decision to remove the series was not one of malice but instead the result of poorly timed scheduling as the new fall season has now commenced and "Defying Gravity" is currently occupying a sought-after slot.
Production on the first season has already completed with a total of 13 episodes for air. Many viewers have speculated that the show will not be around long enough for a second season to be commissioned, however that decision will not lie with ABC.
Although often credited as a product of ABC (its official site is considered the ABC Web site), the space drama actually is an internationally developed television series and is produced by the BBC in conjunction with Fox Television Studios and Omni Film Productions. The production is being carried out in association with the Canadian CTV and Space networks, meaning that even if ABC choose to ax the show, the series could conceivably continue without their support.
However, without ABC's involvement, such a move would become more and more unlikely unless another American suitor is found.
The Canadian and U.K. scheduling of the show is not expected to be affected by the ABC re-scheduling.
Looks like CTV and the BBC will show it in fullEdit. CTV are showing 109 tomorrow
