Great, thanks for the links.

Watched the fights last night, but have to watch them again, it was one of the best cards in the last few months, action wise.

This card was brutal. I hate the fact that the UFC puts out one good card out of about 3 events. This Card does'nt excite me at all. But being a huge UFC fan since the early years I watch each and every event the promote. BIG UPS to the fellas at QSS. Times are tough and theres no way I could pay 50 bucks for the PPV. This site has gotten me through tons of boring meetings at work and class lectures.(An acer,QSS, head phones and you got yourself a very productive meeting)

You know, I sorta have to agree. This card was pretty mild, and I am amazed that so many people were stoked about it.

Sure, Couture, Nogueira, Silva and Jardine are amazing athletes and I love to watch them fight.... but this was an absolute contender placement card. No champions fighting, among half a dozen weight classes? I really don't want to sit through co-headline fights where there is very little at stake. Win or loose... the outcome is no big deal... and that makes for a very non-dramatic night of fights.

I will not talk about the winners, so I will put it in terms like this...

- Couture/Nogueira have little chance of beating Brock. Both guys are great, but are winding down (tho Nogueira's boxing was commendable). Brock only gets better, and has major momentum going into his title defenses.

- Silva/Jardine have little chance of beating Machita. I personally think that Silva poses a greater threat however, and his grappling might be the answer to the elusive Machita riddle.

.... so.... if the winners of these two co-headlining matches get their asses handed to them by the champs, then it made UFC 102 a complete waste of everyone's time. Not a smart bill.

Having said that, there were some fantastic moments that only champions of this caliber can conjure up. I do not want to sound like a total crumb-bum. smile.gif

Wait hold Silva/Jardine winner will not get a title shot regardless of the outcome of this match. Evans v Rampage is for number 1 contender and Lyoto is fighting Shogun at 104. Also I don’t understand why Silva/Jardine was co-main event when Maia v Nate was a bigger fight between actual contenders where as this was between imo 2 gate keepers.

Anyways I thought this card was decent but the fights were great. It seems UFC smaller cards are pretty much ALWAYS better than there bigger cards. Imo fights on this card were better then both UFC 100 and 101.

Maia v Nate was the more entertaining style contrast for sure, but I am not sure if these are the better fighters or higher contenders. None of the four could provide a genuine challenge to Anderson anyhow.. but in my opinion Nate poses the largest threat... so in this sense perhaps he should be a higher contender. Anderson already beat him tho, and Silva as well. This is a tough weight class.

Shogun vs. Lyoto. Ugh. I have had a serious anti-Shogun vibe ever since that Coleman fight. Machita's style is perfect to chip Shogun's questionable endurance into the dirt. At least we can watch a champ fight.

I might normally agree... but all my fave fighters on this card finished fights early with a "punchers chance". I like my violence to have a little more ballet added to the mix. I waited around to see this phenom Maia jujitsu people to death and got nothing. They would have non-televised half the fights on this card but the co-headliners finished too quickly, and we got to watch more quick fights. The only genuine worthy element to this card was the boxing of Nogueira. What an improvement.
