Full Version: The 4th Kind (2009)

In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document...until now.

Structured unlike any film before it, The Fourth Kind is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where—mysteriously since the 1960s—a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered.

Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, The Fourth Kind exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

Personally i think its all hype, the actress chatting along side of blanked out footage of the doctor she is playing hmm yet actual footage of the people faces are not blanked out ? why is the doctor face allowed to stay hidden yet her patients are not allowed the same rights, smells like Blair witch until this was posted

Maybe there is some truth but having a big Hollywood star in film to me means making MONEY.

You bring up a good point. Why is the Doctor's face blurred out but not the patients?

Well, first I should state that I don't know of the events that took place in the movie. The movie is supposed to be about events that took place in 2000.

But there is a good reason why the Doctors face is blurred out.

People always ask why is it that only rednecks and hicks come forward with tales of alien abduction.

The answer: They have nothing to loose.

Budd Hopkins, the pioneer of alien abduction research, has worked with alien abductees in nearly every field, from scientists to NASA personel, from politicians to celebrities, however these people have everything to lose by coming forward, so nearly all of them don't. It's only the people who have absolutely nothing to lose that are most willing to come forward.

Again, I can't say if the events the movie was based on actually happened or not, I just wanted to dispell some of the untruths that circulate in the public about alien abduction.

Another of the popular untruths often repeated is, "How come no black people report being abducted?" Everytime I hear that claim I just wanna laugh out loud out of sheer ignorance of these people. The very first abduction reported in the U.S. involved a black man, -Barney Hill. (Unsolved Mysteries did a segment involving a black man who claimed to abducted and the show UFO Hunters did a segment as well. YouTube has a few clips of black people who claim to have been abducted.)

Here is the official site of the movie. By the way, the title is actually "The Fourth Kind", not "The 4th Kind".

LOL....I did some research tonight (googling).

It's starting to look like this is totaly made up, like they used the real subject of Alien Abduciton, but the people/cases are completely made-up.

The reason?

I found several viral sites, sites that give the reader the impression that the Doctor Abigail is a real person and that Nome, Alaska has a problem with people going missing.

A "WhoIs" search (site that allows you to locate info on a domain) all come back as saying that these viral sites were created on August 13, the same day the trailer was released!

So my official verdicts is that the movie is bunk, that it's not even in the same genre like "Blair Witch", as these people are literally going to great lengths to get people to believe it.

fake or not, that trailer gave me the heebie jeebies!

Dr. Tyler's face is blocked out because the footage of her is from a televised interview. The rest of the stock footage is home-grown sort of hand-held camera footage so it's unscathed. Or at least, that's my two cents involving the problem.

Real or not, this looks like it's going to be quite a thriller.

FAKED and personally I don't like marketing companies that put out false websites to promote and even scarier lie ...
Just shows how news can be really faked. Some of the pages Ive found in hunting date back from 1997.

Check this out:

Nestled in a deep valley lined by steep forested slopes and craggy cliffs sits Nome, Alaska—a hot bed of creepy disappearances and paranormal activity.Or so Hollywood would have the world believe.

Or maybe I stumbled upon an actual fake site to cover a real UFO story.. LOL

Yes this is exactly the same thing going on with the new 2012 movie, they have made a website with pseudo science from within the movie to make it look like its a real event with real research, and its actually a big make believe scam.

proof [official movie site]:

http://www.whowillsurvive2012.com/

now look at the bottom with the links and sponsors ..IHC ...The institute for human continuity:

http://www.theihc.com/

This site makes out as if the 2012 event is scientifically fact and proven, and gets people to sign up, in actuality it is a complete marketing scam. Notice it has Sony pictures copyright

There is no scientific evidence or proof this is going to happen, and the evidence is none existent and based upon a calendric system of cycles that end and restart, made from stone, and then casually cross referenced to an end of the world scenario ....

scare tactics, and marketing scams galore
rant over, bullcrap shown..

This film is based on real events! there has been 1000's of alien abduction cases like this one! this is probably based on true story!!!!!!! the reason why there is not so much posted to the extent you would all think, is because it has been keeped hush till now for the movie! most movies are made and writen from true events , most storys come from true events! i know hearing something like this on the news would be how everyone would want it, but that aint gonna happen! they give you the ansers through movies, they do it this way to slowly let the truth out! i mean come on!! they are asking you on the fourth kind site what you think about aliens and ufo's! why the fuck are they asking that??? i know there real , i believe in aliens, im sure hollywood aint stupid iver, they know and thats why they go to grate lenghs to make movies like this, have witers who know anunnaki , ancient suma!!! some of you lot need to take a brake and look up at the stars somtimes! theres so much life up there!

This doesn’t look scary to me; actually I started to laugh at some of it. I wonder how much money they spent on this movie. Looks like another Blair witch to me.
