Im not sure if this is the right section to post if not please move it, thanks!

Hello everyone,

I've been a member here for a few months and downloaded quite a few movies so i want to give my share back to the community but most of my regular dixv movies are posted on here already, I have a lot of HD movies 720 and 1080.
Most of them range from 3.5GB to 8GB, i want to upload them but im not sure if anyone wants to watch/dl such a big file

Should we have an HD movies section?

thanks
tommy.

That would be nice, i've uploaded around 400GB on torrent but i also watched a lot of movies here so i figured to put my share back in the community.

An HD movies section would be NICE!

are there any sites that will stream hd stuff?

You can split the files and upload to megaupload. Then stream through our divx generator.

Well to answer that id first say not everyone has high speed internet(specially for files that big which require 5 times longer to load). Personally i dont prefer HD online unless i burn them and watch them on tv because i dont see the point in taking 5 times longer to download a file to get maybe a little bit better quality(1.5% at max but definately not 5 times better quality). My concern is that if you host these files ud need to split them which for files that big would require considerable amount of time but nevertheless thats something your willing to do im guessing. Things to keep in mind:

- If you want to put them in this website ud need to have a streaming video because download only links are not allowed

- If you host them in anything other then Megaupload uve got a problem because free users won't be able to watch/download more then 500mb/250mb at a time.

- i dont know how many people are willing to watch them

- And Most of All, according to my knowledge the best quality upload you can make in a streaming video sense is a Divx player (i.e MegaUpload via divx generator) but keep in mind that Divx players sacrifice quality as well. (if you wait for player to load fully and download it>watch it using vlc U'll see that the downloaded version has better quality then the Divx webplayer). So im not sure if your high quality will actually show or have that big of a quality difference to be worth all the trouble. To add to that when the file quality is very high divx webplayers often go out of Sync (Video & Audio dont match) which would ruin everything.

I am Sorry to rain on your Parade but i wouldn't recommend it for your sake. But then again who am i to rain on your parade?

no, that's completely wrong. the difference between a 750mb divx encoded dvd rip and, say, a 3.5gb mkv encoded blu ray rip is incredible, assuming you are watching it on a display that can handle high resolutions. that is kind of where my question about hi def streaming comes in, for example go to youtube and watch something in high quality, obviously there are sites that allow the streaming of high definition content, however I have not seen any that have been utilized by streaming copyrighted material.

nevermind, mr brownee just answered my question

I totally get what your saying and i agree that mkvs have much better quality but i just dont think its worth their size or the effort that is required to upload these things. Okey since i upload Tv shows im going to stick to their sizes. Now a regular 42min vid is around 350mb xvid. which is excellent quality in a divx player already. Now if you want better quality your looking at (let me go with the lowest of the HD a 720p) which is about 1.4gb. thats 4 times as large but the video to me is only at best 2ce as good. if your looking at 1020p or blueray those just get even bigger. So i guess my point goes out to Mrbrownee that video has really great quality i agree but that quality is not 4 times better then the normal divx or atleast not in my Opinion.... + i honestly don't have fast enough internet to download 1.4gb's without getting bored for 30 mins.... and i know alot of people share my view... i hope tongue.gif

You can get hd and bluray in a small file, like 350mb and 400mb,i notice the picture is clearer, and the sound is real good....

For general viewing i share that view, mostly for tv shows and random movies. However, for movies that i am particularly keen on seeing and especially those that have great special effects i'd happily let it buffer for 30 mins for the better qualitity just to experience the movie more in the manner intended. My internet is about 7mb down speed which i imagine is fairly average in my country seeing as cable currently offer 10 - 50mb and soon 100mb packages, my provider will be offering 20mb soon and other dsl providers already offer 20mb. Internet is getting faster and faster all the time at least in the UK and Europe, no idea how it's progressing in the states. So for people with speeds like mine they wouldn't really have to wait all that long to buffer and watch (assuming that the files are hosted on fast streaming sites) and those with the higher speeds would have to wait even less. I'm rambling a bit but my initial point in my head when i started was that we'll all have certain movies we'd be happy to let buffer to watch it in quality and as everyone has different tastes then no HD upload would be wasteful, there will always be a group that will appreciate it.

i guess HD is just not for you (or countless others who are in the same boat) but keep in mind that there are just as many who would also enjoy the HD version. if we have the means, should we not cater to them also?

some small samples of dvdrip vs bluray rip?

I agree we should and i also agree with kabaal i do that too with movies that i really wana watch. Kabaal u have high speed internet so u can afford to i Assume you mean 7mbps which would come out to about 875 KB/s when ur downloading (difference in Units mbps/8 = MB/S-- MB/s is what your browser shows when your downloading) unless u ment MB/s in which case you have super fast internet. Not to say that internet here is slow but it is generally alot more expensive here. Imagine this, a month ago my internet speed was 55KB/s which is less then 500 kbps and i was paying 40$ a month for it. Now its around 300 KB/s which is about 3mbps and i pay 55$ for it. Idk how much your paying but to me thats a bit expensive considering i pay 50$ for my Home phone & Cable Tv combined (i have one of those illigal Satalites on top of the cable-- 10000 channels tongue.gif). So as you can imagine the people in my boat have no paddles so the boats really slow.... lol thus my point of view. But hey if my internet was fast enough to play huge files streaming without buffering every 5 secs then by all means i would have gone for HD as well.

+ itll take me 24 hrs to upload a 8gb movie.... idk bout you but i honestly have better things to do with my day tongue.gif

I mean you pay for your internet service, just imagine you go to work and leave your computer on and not using the internet. Is that a waste?

I was thinking you can just leave the thing to download and go to work, by the time you get home you'll have a high quality movie to enjoy after your dinner, and 1080/720 quality is A LOT better then regular dvd rip, I will take a couple screen shot when i have time. ( i am using a sharp aquos 42lcd 1080ready as my computer monitor)

There's a group of people that i know actually encode 8gb or 4gb hd movies down to 1.5 or a lil more, ill take a screen shot of that too when i have time.

Its just a thought you know, i downloaded a lot of movies on here so i just want to give something back. That's all!

P.s I have cable from time warner and sometime i download up to 3mb/sec, everymovies i download from mr.brownee the speed always stay above 500kb/sec so i dont think downloading those movies should be a problem. Its just where to find the host for these files!

Yep about 875 would be right, we just tend to use the numbers the providers use when talking about it here even though we know that in relative terms it's divided by 8.

$55 for 300KB/s? That is expensive. In pounds that is £33, i pay around £27/$44 for mine which is 3 times faster. The cable companies charge £20/$33 for 20Meg connections and £35/$57 for 50Meg connections. We actually get something cheaper in the UK for once emoticon-0137-clapping.gif
