i liked the soundtrack, but overall wasn't too impressed with the movie. it could have been up to a 1/2 hour shorter as well. I thought it was just ok, but maybe it was becuase of they hype surrounding it.

It was good but I was really expecting something much better for some reason. Maybe because it had Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in it. I honestly think the Untouchables was better. I know I know...

It suffered from poor editing and directing. There is a scene where two bosses in Chicago are discussing the new interstate law and how their business with the bankrobbers affects them because of the "new" law. But, by that time in the movie Dillinger had ALREADY been told to hit the door by the Chicago underboss because of the said "new law".
Baby Face Nelson survived Dillinger by almost two month's, yet in the movie it shows him getting killed in April of 1934. Pretty Boy Floyd was killed in November of 1934 yet the movie shows him getting killed in September 1933.
The book "Public Enemies" is reputed to be the one of the most most accurate books there are on the histories of the bank robbers but from the movie you would never know it.

Is it me? - why does Christian Bale sound like deputy dawg in this? - is it something in the subtext of the film - i think it was originally meant to be a live action version of that cartoon - thiis was Mann's idea of semi-realism and literalism as metaphor for emerging sense of amorality in the first part of the 20th century.

I was stoked to hear of it before it came out and honestly I've tried twice to finish watching it all the way through and could not. Would not. Historical errors too ? I didn't know that. If I knew more of the accepted history accounts I would have been bothered by the discrepancies in the film but that wasn't so. It was just weak in any sense that would normally keep me watching. Which senses those might be ? I'm not all too sure. Don't know if I'll ever try watching it again.
