The Hobbit:
According to an interesting article on the LA Times website, there are three finalists for role of The Hobbit’s Bilbo Baggins. It looks like it’s going to be either Harry Potter, The Last King of Scotland or Dr. Who. In other words, the lead role in Guillermo del Toro’s The Hobbit has come down to Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy or David Tennant.

Voltron: Defenders of the Universe
Charles Roven, the producer of The Dark Knight, Get Smart, and The International, has acquired the screen rights to the 1980s animated TV series Voltron. Roven will produce Voltron via his Atlas Entertainment banner along with Richard Suckle and Steve Alexander and Jason Netter of Kickstart Entertainment and World Events' Ted Koplar. No studio is involved yet.

Voltron had been in-development for years at producer Mark Gordon's company until New Regency put it into turnaround last year. Justin Marks had penned the screenplay and newcomer Max Makowski was lined up to direct.

The series featured a band of five robot-lions who combined to form one super lion. A group of five pilots control the lions, which are charged with defending the planet Arus from villain King Zarkon, who dispatches evil creatures called Robobeats to fight the Voltron robots.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4:
Disney's Head of Production Oren Aviv yesterday to talk about, among other things, the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. And the news is very good. "We're going to shoot Pirates 4 in April and May of next year," Aviv said. "We are going to release it hopefully in 2011." Pirates 4 would "hopefully be the first of another trilogy," he says, and would be shot by itself, not back-to-back again.

There's no word yet if director Gore Verbinski will be back again for Pirates 4, but Aviv does admit that the whole franchise needs a bit of scaling down. "It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger," Aviv said. "The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters." One thing's for certain, Captain Jack Sparrow will be swashbuckling his way back into theaters again come 2011.

Castlevania:
James Wan ("Saw," "Dead Silence") will co-write and direct the film adaptation of classic video game "Castlevania". Wan is replacing Sylvain White, who was previously set to direct.

Paul W.S. Anderson penned the script and is producing. The story begins as a Transylvanian knight leads his men into a gothic castle to seek refuge from the Turkish army. The knights soon discover the castle is controlled by the original vampire.

The script sets up a generational clash between Vlad the Impaler and the Belmont family, a clan that unleashed the original vampire and battles to defeat him.

King Kong (prequel):
Spirit Pictures is looking at a movie that will be based on the book “Kong: King of Skull Island”. The movie would focus on the backstory of Skull Island and how Kong became King of the island inhabited by other giant gorillas and dinosaurs. Penned by Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland, “Kong: King of Skull Island” was published right around the time that Peter Jackson made his King Kong remake in 2005. The movie would use the same motion-capture technology that Robert Zemeckis has used in The Polar Express, Beowulf and A Christmas Carol.

The Black Panther:
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who is more affectionately known as Mr. Eko from “Lost”, has revealed that he is in talks with Marvel Comics to play The Black Panther in a big-screen adaptation of the comic book. The revelation was made during an interview with MTV at this weekend’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

Created by Stan Lee, The Black Panther came to New York City from the fictional African nation of Wakanda. He has fought alongside The Fantastic Four, The Avengers and Captain America. He has helped his homeland when it was on the brink of civil war and also returned to America to fight the Klu Klux Klan.

Toy Story 3:
Director Lee Unkrich has confirmed the rumor that Michael Keaton will be voicing a role in the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures/Pixar feature, Toy Story 3. The actor will voice the character "Ken" in the film.

Set for release on June 18th, 2010, the film brings back the entire cast, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, Estelle Harris, John Ratzenberger, Ned Beatty and Michael Keaton.

Dead Space: The Movie
D.J. Caruso ("Eagle Eye," "Disturbia") is attached to direct the sci-fi/horror video game adaptation "Dead Space". Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will produce.

Game manufacturer Electronic Arts is developing the property and considering takes from prospective screenwriters. Once a scribe is set and the details worked out, the property will be auctioned off to studios sometime in September.

Dead Space is set in the 26th century in deep space, where an engineer who responds to a distress signal from a mining ship finds the vessel infested with monstrous creatures called Necromorphs. The creatures are human corpses, reanimated by an alien virus.

Hack/Slash:
It seems that a gestating cult comic-book film project is finally getting off the ground. Fredrik Bond has signed on to direct Hack/Slash.

The film is based off the comic book created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Casselli, which revolves around Cassie Hack, who symbolizes the one woman that survives at the end of most horror films, but has become much more than that. Not only has Hack survived, but she has transformed into a killer herself, travelling the back roads and killing youngsters in small towns all across the country.

The script was written by Justin Marks and the film, now with a director firmly in place after many had come and gone, is eyeing a winter start date for production.

every single movie mentioned in this thread (with the exception of iron man toy story and possibly the hobbit) sound like a terrible idea. specifically the remake of 28 days later and the Saw director co-writing and directing Castlevania. oh and indiana jones 5. lol
Kabaal
I've been waiting for a remake of the Hobbit for a long long time now. I'd always hoped that it would be made very dark and gritty but i don't hold out much hope for it if they're considering Daniel Radcliffe :/ Bilbo is the best character out of the whole series, they need to rethink their casting.

Upon seeing her family increasingly threatened by the strange occurrences in the house, Laura looks to a group of parapsychologists for help in unraveling the mystery that has taken over the place.

Guillermo del Toro, who produced the original, will serve in the same capacity and will co-adapt Sergio G. Sanchez's original script with Fessenden. Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson will produce the remake.

Little Red Riding Hood:
Leonardo DiCaprios production company Appian Way is developing a gothic reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood. Mission: Impossible IV
Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec have signed on to write the screenplay for Mission: Impossible IV for producers Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams and Paramount Pictures. The scribes aren't big feature names yet, but they join a roster of writers who transitioned from Abrams TV series creations to pen the features he directs and produces through his Bad Robot banner. Applebaum and Nemec spent four seasons with Abrams as co-exec producers of Alias, and they will script Mission: Impossible IV based on a story Abrams wrote with them. While the only other commitments so far are for Cruise and Abrams to produce the film together, sources said that Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, will certainly be involved in an onscreen capacity.

"I've been looking forward to working with Josh and Andre again for years," Abrams said. "Their sense of balance between character and action is wonderful, which I know is hugely important to Tom as well. We're off to an exciting start, so, as usual, fingers crossed."

The film is aimed for a 2011 release.

The Green Hornet:
Columbia Pictures has announced today that Taiwanese actor Jay Chou has been cast as Kato in The Green Hornet. Chou steps in for Stephen Chow, who was originally cast as Kato and was also in the running to direct the film as well. Chou joins the cast that already includes Seth Rogen as the title character along with Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz. "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter is set to direct. Rain stars in "Speed Racer" and the upcoming actioneer "Ninja Assassin".

Barbarella (remake):
Joe Gazzam has been set to write the reboot for Barbarella, which will center on the character that was immortalized by Jane Fonda in the 1968 original.Robert Luketic will direct the sci-fi action-adventure, with original producer Dino De Laurentiis on board to produce the update along with his wife, Martha De Laurentiis.

Robert Rodriguez came on the project, which was then set up at Universal, in May 2007 with an eye to making it a vehicle for Rose McGowan. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade wrote the script, but the studio and director reportedly could not agree on where to shoot. After the parting of ways, a new direction for Barbarella was sought.

Barbarella centers on a female mercenary who roams the universe of a distant future, undertaking missions that require fearlessness, ingenuity and sensuality. The character debuted in 1962 in a French graphic magazine written and illustrated by Jean-Claude Forest and was known for her sexual escapades. There also was a musical produced in 2004.

I think the 300 sequel is a great idea and have been hoping they did something in the way of a sequel. As long as the same people are making it and they're going off of Miller's work I don't see how it could fail. Despite the inaccuracies it's one of my all time favorites and I was wondering why they never showed the naval battle, where the Spartans' victory in that theater was just as impressive as the 300's.

Also looking forward to the new Indy I don't care what anyone says. The last one wasn't nearly as good as the others, and hopefully they picked up on that and will try and make this one a lot better.

Daniel Radcliffe... as Bilbo!?!?!?!?!? unsure.gif

As the biggest LOTR nerd ever I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go on a killing spree if this happens.. he's a bloody awful actor.

David Tennant on the other hand... Doctor Who <3

The Vampire Chronicles:
Universal Pictures is allegedly looking at potentially rebooting Anne Rice's popular novel series "The Vampire Chronicles". Rumor has it that Robert Downey Jr. is in close talks to play the vampire Lestat, a role made famous by Tom Cruise in Neil Jordan's 1994 effort "Interview with the Vampire" and Stuart Townsend in Michael Rymer's 2002 film "Queen of the Damned".

Shrek Forever After:
Craig Robinson will be voicing a character named Cookie in the fourth installment of the Shrek franchise called Shrek Forever After. Shrek Forever After will also feature the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Justin Timberlake, Ian McShane, Julie Andrews and Larry King, to name a few. The movie will be in theatres on May 21, 2010.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2
Oscar-winning scribe Christopher McQuarrie ("The Usual Suspects") has signed on to pen the script for 20th Century Fox's "Wolverine" sequel. The news comes just a few days after a quote from Hugh Jackman emerged at MTV News saying "Japan is where we're heading, [and] we're starting to work on it now. We're in the ... first steps of developing that story".

Jackman return as Logan/Wolverine in the story which will be based off the early 1980's Chris Claremont-Frank Miller mini-series in the comic which has Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai's code of honor and respect. Jackman and Lauren Shuler Donner will return as producers.

The Three Stooges:
The Boston Globe was able to catch up with Peter Farrelly last week and were able to confirm some news regarding their upcoming movie about The Three Stooges. It was confirmed that Paul Giamatti has signed on to replace Sean Penn as Larry. Benicio Del Toro, himself a huge Stooges fan, will be playing Moe. Despite reports that Jim Carrey will be playing Curly (it is even indicated on his IMDB page), apparently this is not the case.

Underworld 4 (3-D):
Sony Screen Gems must have been happy with the whopping $91m worldwide box office for Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, their prequel to the vampires vs werewolf franchise created by Len Wiseman back in 2003, as the studio is moving forward with a fourth film aimed to hit theaters in January 2011. To continue a smart trend in Hollywood, they also write that the fourth film will be arriving in theaters in 3-D. No word on if Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy, Rhona Mitra, Kate Beckinsale or Scott Speedman will return to the franchise.

Looking forward to this one..

Mr Nice,
The film is based on the true story of Howard Marks, an Oxford grad who became a major marijuana importer in the 1960s in the U.K. and managed to escape jail time by posing as an agent for MI5 and become a campaigner for the legalisation of cannabis, a cause which has seen him standing for election to Parliament.

Hancock 2:
Sony has hired "The Shield" writers Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to write Hancock 2 for the studio. The original producing team is expected to return, although it hasn't been confirmed whether director Peter Berg will be back to helm this one.

XXX: The Return of Xander Cage
Ericson Core (Invincible) will direct XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, Columbia Pictures' third installment in the franchise. Neal Moritz and Joe Roth are producing. Vin Diesel is reprising the role he originated in the 2002 movie, directed by Rob Cohen. Diesel and Cohen skipped the 2005 sequel, XXX: State of the Union, which starred Ice Cube and was directed by Lee Tamahori.

Core, a cinematographer-turned-director, worked as DP on Diesel's 2001 film The Fast and the Furious. John Brancato and Michael Ferris (Terminator Salvation) wrote the script for "Xander Cage." It involves Cage's return to the National Security Agency after an eight-year absence. Richard Wilkes, who wrote the original movie, did a recent polish. The studio aims to roll cameras early next year.

Spawn 2:
"Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane says that he has officially begun writing the screenplay for a new movie based on the character. "The story has been in my head for 7 or 8 years. The movie idea is neither a recap or continuation. It is a standalone story that will be R-rated. Creepy and scary" says McFarlane. He adds that "the tone of this 'Spawn' movie will be for a more older audience. Like the film 'The Departed'." New Line released a widely panned live-action film in 1997 starring Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo and Martin Sheen.

Is this the same guy who would get on as a roadie for bands and smuggle the pot in their equipment, and also once convinced a jury that he was working for the CIA and the pot smuggling was a cover for a larger operation involving gun running, so they let him off?

If so I saw an interview with him years ago and have been trying to remember who it was for a really long time.

Bad Boys 3:
Peter Craig has been hired to write the screenplay for Bad Boys 3. This despite the fact that the main players from the first two movies, including director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, have yet to commit to returning for a third installment. All the parties have expressed some interest in the past in returning but not surprisingly, the one big issue could be money.

The Bad Boys movies starred Smith as Mike Lowrey and Lawrence as Marcus Burnett, two Miami narcotics detectives who found themselves busting up some kind of major conspiracy and thwarting some kind of major drug trade.

Fantastic Four 3:
While Disney lays down a $4 billion bet on the future of Marvel's superheroes, 20th Century Fox has already begun overhauling one of its big Marvel franchises, "Fantastic Four," to take the property beyond the two films already made. Akiva Goldsman has been hired to oversee the reboot as producer. Michael Green, the co-exec producer of TV's "Heroes" who co-wrote "Green Lantern," will write the script for the new "Fantastic Four." It is not clear if Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Ioan Gruffudd will return for another movie.

Smurfs:

The first image of a CGI Smurf from Sony Pictures Animation's upcoming film The Smurfs has made its way online, courtesy of PVC Blue. Raja Gosnell directs the 3-D and CG-animated film which opens in theaters on December 17, 2010. "The Smurfs" originated in 1958 as a Belgian comic strip from Peyo (Pierre) Culliford.

Rambo 5:
Nu Image/Millennium Films is moving forward with a fifth installment in the Rambo movie franchise. Sylvester Stallone will return to star and direct. The upcoming project's storyline revolves around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. Production will start in the spring.

Cowboys & Aliens:
Iron Man 2 is in the can, and now director Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. might want to play Cowboys & Aliens. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are rewriting the script with Lost exec producer Damon Lindeloff.

The film is set in the Old West, where cowboys and Native Americans battle in Arizona, until a space ship crashes and a new enemy emerges, equipped with superior technology. Cowboys & Aliens is based on the Platinum Studios Comics graphic novel written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley.

Lobo:

Warner Bros. has locked Guy Ritchie to direct Lobo, the live action adaptation of the DC Comics drama about an alien interstellar bounty hunter. Don Payne wrote the most recent script draft, and Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona will produce. Pic is a co-production between Silver Pictures and Weed Road.

Production on Lobo begins early next year. The character originated in 1983 in Omega Men, written by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Lobo has had several comic incarnations. In the film, he is a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.

Akira:
A remake announced early last year may finally be moving forward. According to Collider, screenwriters Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus (Iron Man) have come aboard to write the Akira remake.

The remake was announced in February 2008, but there has been nothing new reported on the film since then. The site is reporting that news has been slim on the film because the writers have been trying to perfect the script, and the writing duo are about to hand in their script in the near future. It was also confirmed that the story was still to be set in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan in the near future.

If the script meets approval, it was said that the film could go into production next year for a 2011 tentpole release. We'll keep you posted as soon as more information is known on the film.

The A-Team:
Former UFC world light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is now locked in to portray Sgt. "B.A." Baracus in Fox's upcoming film remake of 80's TV series classic "The A-Team" according to The Vancouver Sun. Made famous by Mr. T in the series, Jackson arrived in Vancouver on Friday to begin filming the role on the production that will shoot over the next six weeks.

R&B singer Ne-Yo, "Transformers" latino spunk Ramon Rodriguez, OC & Texas Chainsaw blond stud Taylor Handley and "Lincoln Heights" star Cory Hardrict have all joined the cast of sci-fi war feature "Battle: Los Angeles" for Sony Picture.

The story, about a marine platoon facing off an alien invasion of the City of Angels, stars Aaron Eckhart as the leader of the group trying to rescue people trapped in a community center. Ne-Yo, Rodriguez, Handley and Hardrict will all play members of the platoon. Jadin Gould, Bryce Cass and Joey King will play kids trapped in said center. Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan and Michael Pena also star. Jonathan Liebesman is directing and shooting kicks off this week in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Suspiria (remake):
David Gordon Greens remake of Suspiria will begin shooting next year. This consciousness-altering bit of movie news was discovered by The Playlist. Green, who has managed to maintain his indie cred (Snow Angels) and establish box office pull and mainstream cachet (Pineapple Express).

In the original Suzy Banyon, a young American ballet dancer who arrives at a prestigious European dance academy run by the mysterious Madame Blanc and Miss Tanner. But when a series of bizarre incidents and horrific crimes turn the school into a waking nightmare of the damned, Suzy must escape the academy's unspeakable secret of supernatural evil.

Resident Evil 5:
While Sony Screen Gems is prepping for Resident Evil 4: Afterlife, the 3D sequel slated to arrive in theaters August 27, 2010, Bloody Disgusting has learned exclusively (and confirmed) that the studio is already looking forward to the fifth film. While Milla Jovovich is confirmed for Afterlife, it's got to be getting expensive and (increasingly) difficult to keep her onboard, even though she is married to producer Paul W.S. Anderson. Instead of moving forward with the ongoing story, the studio is planning a quasi-reboot, which is tentatively titled Resident Evil Begins. While it's a long, long, long way off, the idea is to redo the story of a special military unit who fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.

Freewheel
No one has mentioned Surrogates yet. It'll be out later this month and looks kind of interesting.

The year 2017 is a future in which humans live in near-total isolation, never leaving the safety and comfort of their homes, and only communicating with their fellow man through remotely-controlled robotic bodies that serve as "surrogates", designed as better-looking versions of their human operators. Because people are safe all the time, and damage done to a surrogate is not even felt by its owner, it is a peaceful world free from fear, pain, and crime. Agent Greer (Willis) is an FBI agent who enlists the aid of his own surrogate to investigate the first murder in years, of the genius college student who invented the surrogates.

You got your Bruce Willis, robots, futuristic setting. What more can you ask for?

Toy Story 3:

Toy Story & Toy Story 2 director, executive producer of Toy Story 3 and Disney President John Lasseter had some announcements to make regarding the cast of TS3 earlier today.

First, it was announced that John Morris, the boy who voiced Andy in the first two Toy Story movies, will return to be the voice of the now 18-year old Andy (Morris is 24-years old).

Next up is Whoopi Goldberg, who has lent her voice to many animated movies over the years, including The Lion King, The Rugrats Movie and Racing Stripes. This will be Whoopi€™s Pixar debut. It was not revealed which character she will voice.

It was also confirmed that Timothy Dalton with be the voice a hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants, a character described as a toy with thespian tendencies.

Jeff Garlin will make his return to Pixar. Garlin, probably best know for his role on HBO€™s Curb Your Enthusiasm, was the voice of Captain McCrea in WALL-E.

Pixar veteran Bonnie Hunt is the next voice to be announced. She has already appeared in A Bug€™s Life, Monsters, Inc. and Cars.

Finally, Ned Beatty has been cast as the voice of a new character in TS3.

Some other names that have been previously announced include the return of Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Michael Keaton as the doll Ken, Joan Cusack, John Ratzenberger and Don Rickles.

Earlier in the week, Mr. Lasseter also gave a crowd a sneek preview of some footage from Toy Story 3.

The clip showed Andy packing from college, and emptying all his toys into a black bin bag for storage in the attic. He hesitates over Woody and Buzz, finally putting Woody in the box of things to take for college. But all the toys are panicked €“ especially Woody, who€™s worried for his friends. When Andy is distracted by his little sister and leaves the garbage bag on the landing instead of upstairs in the attic, his mother takes it out to the kerb €“ and a frantic Woody has to save his friends from a rapidly approaching bin lorry€..Clearly the toys end up being sent to a daycare centre, where they are horribly abused by the little kids €“ and after that it€™s time for a break-out attempt to find a safe haven, and hopefully a new owner, in a cruel world.

Toy Story 3 will be in theatres on June 18, 2010.

Cars 2:
The story sees Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), his pit team and new pit boss Mater head around the world for the Race of Champions, to take place in five different countries and involve the champions of different disciplines like Formula One and rally driving. First up is a race in Tokyo, starting at Mount Fuji and heading downtown; then there's a German race through the Black Forest; then "Porto Corsa" in Italy, which is based partly on the Monte Carlo Grand Prix; then a 24-hour race around Paris (so somewhat like Le Mans then) and finally a thrilling climax in London, approaching Buckingham Palace (where the guards appear to be Land Rovers).

Hancock 2:
Will Smith and Charlize Theron are set to return for the "Hancock" sequel according to director Peter Berg in an interview with MTV News. Speaking earlier this week, Berg was asked about the two stars participation to which he replied "everybody's going to come back for a sequel."

Berg was set to direct and scribes Adam Fierro ("24," "Dexter") and Glen Mazzara ("The Shield") were penning a script that Smith was in consultation for. Story wise, Berg also revealed this week that the film will see a third immortal god enter the storyline.

The Green Hornet:
"Inglourious Basterds" scene-stealing bad buy Christoph Waltz has been cast as the villain 'Chudnofsky' in "The Green Hornet" for Sony Pictures. Waltz is most likely replacing Nicolas Cage who bowed out the other week of the currently shooting superhero action/comedy which stars Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz. The Green Hornet has just recently starting shooting for its December 17, 2010 release.

Red Dawn (remake)
Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Watchmen," "P.S. I Love You") is in final negotiations to join the cast of the remake of the 1984 John Milius cult classic "Red Dawn" for MGM/UA. Morgan will play the leader of the U.S. Special Forces team who discovers the teens' stronghold while behind enemy lines. Morgan essentially takes over the role played by "Deadwood" star Powers Booth in the original.

The story follows a group of teenagers who band together to fight back when their home town is invaded by an joint force of Chinese and Russian soldiers.

Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise and Edwin Hodge star in the remake being directed by Dan Bradley. Filming will begin shortly in Detroit for release next September.

The Host:
Producers Nick Wechsler, Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz have used their own money to acquire screen rights to The Host, the first adult novel written by Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series. Andrew Niccol will write the script and direct.

Meyers novel is a love story set in the near future on Earth, which has been assimilated by an alien species that call themselves Souls. They are benevolent parasites that subsume the conscious of humans and take possession of their bodies. One such soul, The Wanderer (so named because she has wandered among so many different worlds) is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth. The Wanderer cannot subsume the forceful Melanie, and they battle for the girls memories and her spirit.

Highlander (remake):
"Fast and Furious" director Justin Lin and producer Neal H. Moritz are re-teaming for the upcoming remake of cult classic "Highlander" for Summit Entertainment. Summit's film will expand on the original Highlander's core mythology and according to the press release the plan is very much to "spur a new franchise for the studio". Art Marcum and Matt Holloway ("Iron Man") are penning the script while Peter Davis will also produce.

In "Highlander", after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize.

Resident Evil: Afterlife
"Prison Break" hunk Wentworth Miller and "Heroes" babe Ali Larter have joined the cast of "Resident Evil: Afterlife", the fourth film in the franchise.

Cast member Boris Kodjoe told the site the news whilst doing promotion for his work in this week's sci-fi thriller "Surrogates". In the film, Kodjoe says "I play the leader of the survivors in Los Angeles. Milla Jovovichs character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and shes wound up in LA, which has been burning for three years. She comes across an LA jail surrounded be these half-dead with a couple of survivors trapped inside. She lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. Were trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety."

Miller plays one of the trapped people whom they lock up in a cell as they aren't sure if he's succumbed to the virus or not. He becomes a key element of their eventual escape. Larter reprises her role of Claire Redfield from the previous film "Resident Evil: Extinction".

Shooting kicks off this week in Toronto under the helm of returning first film director Paul W.S. Anderson.
