The remake of the classic dream demon flick arriving in theaters April 16, 2010. Directed by Samuel Bayer, the film stars Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, Rooney Mara, Kellan Lutz, Katie Cassidy, Clancy Brown and Connie Britton. The films' premise centers on Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. The original "Nightmare" was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984.

This could be interesting.

The original was horrendously boring.

Love Freddie movies - Not scary in the slightest, good comedy though!

I'm looking forward to this one.

I actually have some hope for it even as a long time fan of the series.

Just dont mess this up!..

Strange to say but I'm with the above posters about this possibly being a good idea for once. Jason, Michael and Freddy have always been the deadly trio for me but of the three legends I think (if done right) this one could be good with the right people involved. Even though chances are they ll use incredible CGI with a dumb ass story but who knows. I for one liked the TexasCM remake even though the original still scares me.

i think it will be goo dbecause judging form the posters they look as if they are trying to stay true to the originals so hopefully it will continue that way after we see a trailer

Since this is coming from Platinum Dunes, I don't have high hopes.

IMO the only thing this movie has going for it at the moment is Wesley Strick. He's the writer behind a few decent movies.

The poster is alright. Not too original or anything, but that's ok. I don't expect originality from Hollywood anymore.

I'm sure this will do well, just like the Halloween reboot, and the fucking terrible Last House on the Left remake. fuck american horror movies (aside from The Thing)

I wouldn't say that. There are many great American horror films...they just all came before 1990 (except for a select few).

The Thing was a great remake, and actually apparently stuck closer to the novella (Who Goes There?) than the original film (The Thing from Another World). I have never read the novella, but I wish to.

Anyway...back to ANOES...

Again Platinum Dunes has chosen to go with a music video/commerical director (Samuel Bayer). I don't know if this is a good decision. Looking at his filmography...I'm leaning towards no. Especially after having seen the remakes for Friday the 13th, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Those were also directed by music video directors. They weren't horrible, but they weren't great either.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Oh! and great avatar. Sam & Max Hit the Road is a great game. laugh.gif
