hurry up and get back.

no other sport comes close to it, and is boring in comparasent if we are all honest ( football fans this applies to ).

i mean sky sports news is the worst channel in the world in the summer cos they try ever so hard to big up cricket, but they know and we know, most people just wanna know who has moved why haha.

am counting down the days to the big kick off
movieman
to fooking right

im a big cricket fan but theres nout better than the footie season
Amar
damn right

also a big cricket fan, the 20-20 world cup is keeping me interested and i guess the ashes will as well but it doesnt come close to footy
blaz3d
dont worry ashes start tomorrow!!!!!!!(im there on saturday for my birthday) least there is a tiny bit of respite from the overwelming boredom, though some might say not!

though my missus seems happy, i cant imagine why possibly it might have something to do with the amount of time im not spending in the pub or travelling half way around the country watching games.

Boxing has been and will forever be my favorite sport, but I still can't wait for the season to start again. I may just scrap my sports package until the new season starts - Pretty boring without EPL coverage.
jackyshaw8
i'm scottish so its impossible for me to like cricket
hitmewitdarock
I am ery ready for the new season... looking forward to it...
i am also learning a bunch from you guys in the transfer season thread... thank you...

here in the usa i get stuck with baseball in the summer (which is much better to me than cricket)

i am also ready for the fantasy league to start... it has really helped me learn the game...

u should scotland have a cricket team though i think the funding thet recieve for cricket is very minimal maybe with more money they would properly be on the test circuit.

lol i did have a choice between wimbledon or tickets for the ashes (though the score as it stands today it might not go till saturday!), i chose the latter after murray went out! though on reflection after wathcing that final between roddick and federer i think i chose badly, the match was awesome!! my dad is a star though every year since i was 12 i have been given tickets for sporting events, presents that have given me wonderful memories over the years! i even got to meet schumacher at the british grand prix when he was at benetton!

sounds good dont worry kp will guide us to victory

great to see an american putting time and effort into learning about football, i'm doing a similar thing with the nfl. For the first time in my life i can see why it is so popular over on your side of the pond. It does take some effort to understand though, it takes tactics and meticulous planning to a whole new level for me.

i find it that complicated that i am resigned to just watching and enjoy what i see rather than try and understand what the hell is going on :0)

maybe hitmewitdarock would like to try and simplify the rules in exchange for some fantasy football titbits lol

keep with it mate, it's well worth it, i have a mate who helps me out with a lot of stuff i struggle with.he took about 3 hours explaining the tuck rule and i'm still not sure about it.

NFL is fantastic to watch imo. Been a fan of the sport for 6 years or so now, adopted the Colts as my team. I can proudly say I know pretty much everything in the sport nower days- took me a while though, so tactical and strategic - Great to watch tongue.gif
colnechris
no time for NFL.....but thats because im quite impatient for 1 thing and i dont know anything about it....but i did enjoy the madden nfl series of computer games a few years back.

maybe if i gave it a chance i would enjoy it. maybe 1 day i will

3 hours for one rule! my brain is hurting already, i think i will stick to the enjoyment of watching and feigning understanding less pressure on the brain i feel lol

one thing i do wonder about, i no rugby and american football are 2 different sports but why the padding in the nfl? and none in rugby or is it all about us brits being dam hard and our american cousins being well a bit wet :0) (i am honestly joking here and in no way being offensive, please take it how i have intended ty) :0)

both sports seem just as hard hitting, so is there something about the nfl that requires helmets and pads etc.... im thinkign that in nfl they are allowed to tackle high so hence the padding.
colnechris
could be something to do with the fact if you breathe to heavily on someone in america they sue you lol.

nah i have no idea why they use it,

That's basically it. You can fly through the air with a tackle in the NFL, quite damn risky if you don't have the correct gear. In Rugby it's more of a ground game - a LOT more rough then the NFL in my honest opinion, however there is more risk of injury due to the rules of the NFL.

i am willing to offer tips to anyone but i dont keep up with many of the players anymore... free agency and heay commercialization hae really hurt the game imo...
best place to start is with madden and go from there... it will teach you the rules...

in the NFL they will try and take your head off... and the speed involved... much faster play...
i know rugby is tough but they go low from what i have seen and read (ty tams) but it doesnt seem as hardcore as the nfl...
i was truly suprised at how much action there is in footy... good stuff...

ah so thats why, more freedom on how they tackle i suppose, rugby i think (though i didnt play at school i was in the football team) ur not allowed to tackle above waist height, i suppose a bit harder than the nfl as they can just about tackle as they like form what u said!

hitmewitdarock i reckon ur slowly turing into a brit ur using our short name for football! good stuff :0)

im not really into madden, do they have something like football manager or championship manager, which are both management games, i would probably find that intersesting, they have the games like that for cricket and rugby wondering if they have one for american football.

maybe u should have a bash at football manager(if u havent already), if like me ur interested in training, tactics etc u will find it good fun, would give u a chance to get to know players also.

I only see american football at the playoffs the same with NBA. It only gets interesting when evrything is on the line where with regular football you can almost watch every week..

I don`t think there is a manager for NFL
