I can't believe that nobody ever started a thread for this show. ohmy.gif

I wub.gif this show. It's not a faithful adaptation of the book, which makes it different and pretty cool. It requires you to watch with an open mind. Personally, I love it. It's been styled up a bit for this generation, but uses characters from all age ranges.

Although we're in season 3 now, I thought I'd start the thread so if anyone wants to discuss the show from any point up to present, please do. There's been lots of changes in season 3 as a result of the finale from season 2 (which raised a few eyebrows and tempers btw).

yea season 2 finale was a bit dodgy, but overall i can't fault this series! at times, it's corny, predictable and repetitive but it's wonderful! The "next week" bit kills me cuz i have to wait! but god is it worth the wait! only thing i can say is that we need more of robin firing arrows instead of fighting with a sword, it just aint as kickass! and mulch (think that's how you spell his name) - we havent had enuf of him!

get ready for the season finale part 2 next week. I have some things to say about part 1, but I'll wait a few more days before posting to give folks a chance to watch the epi first. Yes, I could use the spoiler box, but what fun is that?? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

The way of all good series.
Has no-one in the TV got any taste!

Spoiler facts about Robin Hood:
King Richard the Lionheart spent a total for 3 weeks of his entire life in England. He was a terrible King (by neglect), a bad husband and an even worse father.
He also didn't speak a word of Saxon (English as a language did not exist in those days) but he was a damned good soldier.
Switch off Halo #1.
Robin Hood was actually a cut-throat bandit who lurked in a forest 100 miles and 60 years away from Sherwood forest.
There was an Earl of Loxley who was chased into Sherwood forest, but he was never heard off again.
In times of despair and oppression, stories of heroes (real and imagined) spring up to give the masses a ray of hope.
Many of these stories combine to make yet another icon to freedom.
King John was so bad, that even his erstwhile cohorts forced him to sign the Magna Carta, and to this day, no male member of any Royal Family of England bears the name of John.

Main problem with this series was that it had no continuity, no direction.

The main problem with this series was TPTB at BBC didn't really like this show alot. It pulled in a respectable amt. of viewers to warrent keeping it on, but the higher ups were looking for a reason to let it go bye bye, and they found it when Jonas Armstrong decided to end his time as Robin after series 3. For awhile, the rumor was a series 4 would be a go with a few new outlaws and a new direction, but by the time the series 3 finale aired, the decision had already been made to not do a 4th series. I'm just surprised the BBC actually waited till after the finale to announce it.

Jonas Armstrong himself said it sucked that the BBC moved the finale at the last minute to BBC Two. It tanked the viewer numbers for it as most people didn't even know it had been moved and just thought it had been pre-empted... the final "up yours" by the BBC. Bastards! swear.gif

If you watched the series from season 1 through 3, you saw that it followed some of the story of Robin Hood, but also included new storylines which all got tied together in the last few episodes of series3. Alot of people thought it should have remained faithful to the original story, but it needed an injection of updated modern ideas mixed in with the RH story. Like it or not, it was a good show that deserved more than it got from the BBC.
