That is it exactly the transfer was out of your hands from the moment the final whistle blew, have you heard anything about them paying over 7 years, that surely cannot be true 3 or 4 years maybe but 7 is nuts.

That would never have happend if Rafa had the control then that he has now,Rafa has gutted the club from top to bottom since he signed his new contract and for the first time since he came we have a focal point to either blame of praise..

England all out for 111 useless bastards.

We were in exactly the same situation, deadline looming and both owners wanting to sell up for silly money and selling your top assets isn't the best way to get the return on the club now is it?

You're like a fart in a spacesuit, comical but annoyingly unpleasant.

Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

At the request of Cristiano - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.

Taken from here.

now that to me means cash upfront and no preformance realted clauses. If it's over 7 years, that's stupid, so stupid UTD wouldn't do it.

QUOTE(colnechris @ Jun 11 2009, 01:24 PM) *
im waiting fro fergies comments, because im not convinced this is his decision.

But besides that, bad business for united, cud of and shud of got more from madrid, cos lets face it there mugs. £100million for example. and add to tha a few players, VDV for 1. But if we get Villa....or a striker of his status, maybe even RVN at bargain price Ribrary and 1 midfield hardman to give our midfield that strength it lacked a little we will be orite.

still, as i say, lets see what fergie has to say on the matter.

ps, bid for messi haha,

Wrong. Bad buisness would be to keep him and allow him to walk away in a couple of years time for free. With 80 mil plus our usual transfer budget, UTD should get stronger, not weaker. All we need are the right players. If Fergie hasn't OK'd this, I'll stand naked in house of fraizer whindow in Leeds for a whole week

QUOTE(colnechris @ Jun 11 2009, 01:31 PM) *
ronnie wanted to stay..........right up until the champions league final i think. seems like a paddy on his part.

VDS/Foster
Raphael Rio Vidic Evra
Ribrary Carrick Anderson/Hardman signing Tosic
Rooney
Berba/Villa or whoever

Wrong again! Ronny's wanted to leave for Madrid for two years now. It's plainly obvious to all but you

QUOTE(colnechris @ Jun 11 2009, 03:37 PM) *
oh how wrong you are.

seeing as your in a worse position than us financially....dont let our larger debt make you think your not, our clubs worth much much more than yours for starters as are all our assets and our income is far bigger, our debts easily managable...if we wer to bid, say 30million+ your club would have little choice but to accept...so yeh, if united wanted torres we could pretty much be sure of getting him..dont kid yourselves with the idea he will never leave liverpool...because unfortunately for you lot, he has already said he will leave if you dont start winning.

ahhhh, now how funny would that be.

united will replace ronaldo, in time....liverpool took a long long time to replace owen when he left...

Our debt is about as managable as Pool's. We make more and are worth more, but our debts are bigger and interst repayments are higher. We're both in pretty much the same boat relatively speaking. One differance might be that glazer's are doing better financially than dick and liddy, but i don't know

QUOTE(colnechris @ Jun 11 2009, 05:55 PM) *
if man utd have to sell, then be certain liverpool will, your a far smaller club than us.

what if no1 comes in to save your bacon? yep, goodbye torres, goodbye alonso, goodbye gerrard er.....yeh thats your good players in your squad, rest would fetch 30 million combined maybe 40...

so get out of dreamland will ya.

and skamp, please do 'try' to show how we are in the same situation.....because it will be funny to see what you come up with bar the fact both our owners are american.

Man UTd didn't have ti sell in the way you're making out. The only reasons they chose to sell was one, every year from now his value will drop as he contracts gets nearer to the end (until eventually he can move for free). Two, it's a fooking lot of money (enough to make us stronger) and three, he doesn't want to play for UTD anymore and hasn't for sometime.

Chris, you talk a lot of rubbish

Capello said of Roooney's recent england scoring form. "The reason he's scoring now is quite simple, I told him to stand infront of the goal".

If Man utd were to addopt such tactics, expect him to get 25 a season or more.

He won't be playing against 4th rate teams in the EPL though tongue.gif

Agreed though, he is a top player an should be used as a striker.. not that I'm complaining. Let SAF play him as an Attacking midfielder for all I care! biggrin.gif

and real took ronaldo eh....course they did....i mean 80million, bargain they got. we could buy you entire squad for that lets be honest lmao

Torres £40m, Gerrard £35m, Masch £20-25m, Xabi £15m, Reina £15m, Agger £10m, Kuyt £10m, Babel £7m.... not really.

Hello mystic meg...

Tough luck for us but nobody smart would refuge such an offer. Looking forward to seeing the real Real next year.Last year i couldn`t recognize a lot of their players lol and that`s bad when your name is Real Madrid. Only top players should be allowed mixed with young talents. what an offense lol robben(if he stays and is healthy),kaka(the guy who alone owned united in CHL a few years back),ruud van nistelrooy(who should come back soon),raul(the heart of the team and he has returned to his old self ),Ronaldo (officially the greatest player in the world) and david villa(who is expected). And then you have snejder who still is waiting to shine.

As for united i agree we should get benzema and Ribery. But if we don`t get top players a s such we will be screwed next year.

Realisticaly it's a fantastic bit of business for Man Uinted in my honest opinion. I truley believe no man is worth that kind of money, I mean come on.. £80m!?!?

It's no doubt a HUGE loss to the United Squad as there is no denying his skill, however I think it's a great thing for English football that he's left, mainly because I don't like him.

A fantastic article for the mirror on Ronaldo which sums up my view of him 100%-

QUOTE
Good riddance Cristiano Ronaldo the posing, faking diver - farewell the fantastic footballer

He was a diver. He was a poser. He was a faker. He was a primped up poodle, a dummy-spitter and a prima donna.

He was flash, he was vulgar, he was diva high maintenance, a fresh-flowers-in-my-hotel-room type of new-age footballer.

He was stretch limos and blacked-out windows, diamond-stud earrings and clothes with his name written on them. In case he forgot who he was. He sulked, he flirted, he pouted, he sat on his backside in protest if he didn’t get a free-kick. Like it was an offence against his divinity.

He was fickle, he was restless, he was rootless, he was rude. He turned his back on his manager when he had the temerity to substitute him.
And when he winked at the Portugal bench after Wayne Rooney had been sent off in the 2006 World Cup, it was as if we had looked through a window into his soul.

There was no Eric Cantona warmth about him. He was not a vulnerable man. Not a football philosopher. Not a man who played with joie de vivre.

But, damn, Cristiano Ronaldo was good. It might have been hard to like him but it was harder still not to admire him.

Because for all his faults and his foibles, he established beyond doubt during his Manchester United years that he was the best player in the world.

What a player he was. He was Frank Lampard, Fernando Torres and Ryan Giggs rolled into one.

A goalscoring midfielder, a classic centre-forward and a wizard of dribble. A man built to terrorise defences.

Do you remember the towering header he scored against Roma in the Champions League quarter-final back in April 2008? The height he reached with his leap, the way he brushed the defenders aside, the bravery of his commitment: Alan Shearer would have been proud of it.

He was magnificent to watch. Even last season, when he was sulking about not getting his move to Real Madrid the previous summer, he was wonderful.

The goal he scored against FC Porto in Portugal was the goal of the season. His one-man demolition of Arsenal in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals was one of the performances of the season.

He really was the player who had everything. And even if Lionel Messi had the last laugh when Barcelona beat United in Rome last month, Ronaldo is still the best player on the planet.

It’s easier to like Messi, easier to warm to his humility than to Ronaldo’s strutting arrogance.

But that obscures the fact that Ronaldo is the harder man to play against.

The day before the Champions League final, one of the best defenders the world has ever seen, Marcel Desailly, told me Ronaldo, not Messi, would have been his worst nightmare.

Unpredictable, powerful, good in the air, lightning fast, an explosive shooter, a fine crosser, a dead-ball expert: there was nothing he couldn’t do.

United will not miss his attitude. Nor will they regret the absence of his posturing and his selfishness.

But even if Sir Alex Ferguson is allowed to invest all the £80m from his sale in the purchase of new players, United will be a poorer team without Ronaldo.

The sad thing is that Ronaldo will almost certainly be a poorer player without United, too. At Old Trafford, he had men like Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez who were willing to run themselves into the ground for the team and leave the glory to Ronaldo.

The attacking part of the team was built around him. Others made sacrifices. He reaped the rewards.

Despite all that, he has agitated for a move to Madrid like a little boy tugging at his mummy’s sleeve and whining and whimpering until he gets what he wants.

Well, now he’s got his wish and so to Ronaldo the footballer, we say ‘good luck in your new adventure’. But to Ronaldo the man consumed by narcissism and hubris, we say grow up and good riddance.

Ribery would cost you atleast £50m and imo he aint worth that,i am more shocked that United didn't ask for Sneijder as part of the deal because lets face it Anderson aint all that,he had one great game against us and has gone down hill eversince, don't get me wrong i hope SirScoffsAlot persists with the lad,you were also in for Huntelaar and everyone knows RM are looking to get rid of most a the Dutchies, you've either missed a trick of ya boss has his eye on others (which again makes me happy)
striker07
i actually think beside the money Ferguson had a lot to with it. He did it with David beckham at his peak and then later with ruud van nistelrooy. All of them were the time the stars of team and everybody thought united would break down but they didn`t because feguson always knew what he was doing.

you right skamp it would be nice if Snejder(or robben for that matter) came here and who knows if they already tried and Real was keen on him, but Huntelaar? i don`t see what people see in him i can mention much better strikers than him.Since it looks like zlatan is going too barca i hope ferguson can get his hands on etoo(if inter didn`t make him a part of the deal) . Ribery is great and i think we will see his big potential when he comes to a big club like united(but yeah 50 mil is ridiculous and i think bayern is only playing hard to get). There are a lot of options out there beside the two i mentioned so ferguson will figure something out

tams you say nobody is worth 80 million and i agree but to be honest i don`t think nobody is worth 20 for that matter.Football is partly a sport and partly buissness. It`s up to the clubs to stratagize and see what s best for them.If Real think they can earn the money back on e.g. shirts and tv deals good for them.

I was worried you'd go for Villa but he's come out and said he would only come to England to play under Rafa.

He's always made it clear he doesn't want to leave Spain though it's just a shame (on them) that Madrid are trying to take the piss.

Apparently, the 27-year-old has informed close friends that he would only consider swapping Spain for England if he were to link up with fellow countrymen Rafa Benitez and Fernando Torres.

Yeah but like i said, if silva came too, he'd have a fellow countryman (and current team mate) to link up with at Manchester too. Manchester is also very close to Liverpool, so he'd have easy access to Pool spaniards too. If UTD offerd 70 million for the pair, I think Vallencia would be kean to push it through. I know I'm wishful thinking here, but who knows?

Valencia would snap your hands off if you offered £70m but that would only be half the battle.

30/35m would get Villa i reckon and 20/25 for Silva i personally don't think Silva could hack in overhere he's smaller than Yossi ffs.

Yeah, just like Juniniho couldn't and Arshavin can't. Size matters not if you've good enough smile.gif England often get left behind in international stakes because if players like messi and those two come along, they are told they are "too small". The sooner we move away from this thinking, I think the better we might become on the world stage. At least we could give him a chance, we could always sell him back to a Spanish club smile.gif Fergie tried to buy him last year, so he doesn't seem to think his size would be an issue. Michael Owen is a lighweight, but no one could catch him in his prime lol and Jermaine defoe is tiny (think size 4 feet) and built like a girl. All these could cope, I'd like to think Silva could too. There's some hard defenders in Spain you know.
