A nurse struggles to find a balance between the demands of her frenetic job at a New York City hospital and an array of personal dramas.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190689/1x1 - Veteran ER nurse Jackie Peyton bends the rules to create something good from a patient's senseless death, while concealing her addiction to a pain killer she gets from her secret pharmacist boyfriend.

I think it's going to be a big hit.. with insiders such as folks in around or run over by the medical industry. About the only House ref was her addiction to pain killers.. I saw it as a more edgier, very dark, snarky, tongue in cheek look at humanity.. or the very dark side of Scrubs. There's good dialogue thruout but the last couple of scenes did it for me.. I'll watch for that, as well as.. it gave me much occasion to either nod my head in agreement or giggle.. and at best.. both... And I think that'll be enuff to get folks not the injured party of malpractice to enjoy as well!! I give it a good reccommend..

I think I have been spoiled by the likes of Sopranos and The Wire. I found it too predictable and I am a huge fan of Edie's.
When she first met the widow I knew she was going to steal money from another patient. When the diplomat came in I knew something terrible was going to happen to his ear. I want characters and story lines that surprise me.

My thought was that she takes oxy or vicodin for the pain but something amphetaminey to keep her alert.

Very interesting summary, I agree with ya.
she was snorting oxy cotton to keep herself focused, and I don't blame her, they mentioned she does 80 hour weeks.

It's adderall. Just sayin'. There's no such thing as 'alert' with oxy.

Seeing as how the show is set in the ER, I expect there will more opportunities for all sorts of drama. Was anyone else horrified by her forging a signature? As for the drug snorting percocet nurse, I was kind of taken aback by that... but it's not like it's unheard of in a hospital drama. (e.g., House) I expect that down the line there maybe a message or two about addiction. I'll watch it to see if the next episode gets better.

well here it is 7 episodes in, and its getting too homey drama and not enough ER drama.
What happened to the random baby that the admin picked up? How did they have all that "Extra' morphine laying around? And her hubby is WAY too hot for her. hello, casting? Can we get a normal looking guy to play her hubby? The admin and the femme Fatale Dr. are my two favorite characters. I love the odd situations that pop up and her reaction to them. I hope the pharmacist does get booted by the new system, he's too "puppy dog eyes" feel sorry for me ALL the time.

I knew she was gonna have to break her finger. And I don't think taking that many meds, she could maintain on her days off, do ya think? They need to cool it with the drug crap. It's retarded.
