ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson says his network's remake of the 1980s miniseries "V" could consist of four seasons, planned in advance, each with 13-22 episodes each. The show is planned for midseason.

i was 9 years old when i watched the original mini-series.

I remember the 80's series which gave me me nightmares (around age 10 and european, same as 'suncritters') so I'm pretty delighted to see the new take on it. (The review of the series didn't do shit to my preconditioned mind) I never found the episode with the (Star trek alike)worm lodging onto your brain stem. Eagerly awaiting this...

i am downloading the original 3 part mini series now and will upload them once ready, they may even be on QSS already, i never checked but i will upload my copy anyways. also when i am done downloading the original 3 part show i will grab the sequel 3 part mini series but i will not be doing anything about the television series at all.

I have the whole Collection on DVD...the First Mini Series, 2nd Mini Series and the Series...I really liked them when I was younger and wanted them. I am excited about the New one coming out....If I knew how to upload them by ripping them I would and post them....But I am not sure how to do that....I only know the downloading and burning process...If someone could explain, I could put them up for everyone.

yea you mixed another one up with V. the show you are referring to was called Alien Nation. that started as a movie by the same title
and later was made in to a television show. im thinking James Caan was in the movie but i could be wrong

I already posted my opinion on that review page but I'll say the same thing here.

This looks like it could go 50/50 in my opinion. I have the original dvds and after 20 yrs or so, I don't see anything worth changing/improving other than special fx. This take on the series looks too romanticized for my taste. It has the foggy or misty look around the screen that most 80s sci-fi had but the alien leader looks TOO soft. She's not sexy in a threatening way at all. Diana made me think... "Hmmm, that's a lizard, but damn!"

I like the new ships and the way she speaks to the world on screen (very original) but uh... where's the eerie alien voice. Where's the one thing that makes them stand out from us in appearance.

I just don't think a series is necessary. They could sum up the entire saga in a movie trilogy and I would be ecstatic. I was disappointed in Knight Rider, it's only a matter of time before my entire childhood comes back to haunt me, lol.

Always loved that percussions theme music fromthe original - the Stomping Boots rythm. Classic tv theme. Haven't seen the trailer for the new version yet, but I hope they were respectful enough to keep that.

I almost get the feeling from watching the previews that the Visitors will have more of an insidious corporation vibe rather than the fascist one from the original.

It would be a cool new twist, especially with what goes on in the world economy today, but then again you start to get into They Live territory.

I really hope they haven't butchered this as i'm looking forward to it quite a bit.

I for one ama excited to see how this turns out. It was one of my all time favorite TV shows when I was a kid. The two miniseries were better than the actual TV series (because there were diff writers), but i have fond memories of them all. I really hope they dont turn this into a Dawsons Creek version of it. I have all three DVD sets, and have been re-watching them to get ready for the remake.

they took a steamy dump all over the whole original concept of V....... small change can be good, but this is just disrespectful. Count me out. This isn't even a remake... they took lizard aliens and made an entirely diff show. Either the writers didn't watch the original miniseries, didn't understand it, or decided that NBC got away with in BSG and figured "What the hell, lets see if we can get away with it". I won't be watching any more of this show, for those of you that do like it so far, good luck and best wishes.

Just downloaded and saw the premere... not bad.. is it just me or was it confusing when they jumped from the Visitors first arriving to them already being there for a while(happens in the church scene).... If thats what they intended, someone did a terrible editing job...

One more thing, that high commander Anna.. it HOT!

V seems to remind me a lot of Earth Final Conflict written by the Star Trek creator.

Well, that was a weird fifty minutes of very thinly veiled right wing nutcase paranoia. They should've renamed Anna as Obanna - their target demographic generally needs complicated things spelt out like that.

Anna is hot, but way too robotic. Maybe its just me but she speaks like she's reading a cue card. I don't find that eerie at all, just stupid.
I HATE the uniforms! The red suits in the original series were excellent. The crap about Earth having the resources they need, like water.... ehhhh.
That worked 20 years ago, but I'm taking environmental science in school and you don't have to be in that class to know that Earth's natural
resources are running low.
In real life we would've laughed at them & said good luck.

Anyway this is only going to be 13 eps from what I've read so hopefully it gets better.

I'll keep watching just for the hell of it.

I was going to post about the werd fractured timeline... but thankfully I read the posts about the bogus rip.

That really wrecked it for me, not much to say since I'm still trying to put the story line back together. It looks like the usual alien invasion flick, which always leaves me with one question, if we can destroy our planet and all the people... what could aliens do?

The real alien invasion story would make a crappy movie because its a cake walk. Show up at the speed of light(or faster), take out the world military, enslave the people aaannnd y'er done. Be more like a Shakespearian tragedy then a movie

For an attempt to remake one of the most famous Pilot episodes there are they didn't do too bad a job. Going to have to watch a few episodes before i make my mind up on this one i think.

ahh good. I'm glad it wasn't aired like that because it ruined it for me also. The big reveal was over before the show picked up any momentum.

Just a heads up, some of the versions of V have been intentionally re edited, so the story is out of sync, if you watch Kabaals version (the first post) the story unfolds properly in an entirely linear way. The megavideo version is really messed up

The whole "universal health care" statement during her interview was a little too much propaganda for me. I loved the old series but this one seems just too contrived.

I still can't get passed the whole "It's like Independence day man!" line from the first 15 minutes of the show. To openly comment on what would be the most common comparisons any viewer would make really made me wonder who the hell let this garbage air. Rather than try to top the original series or even shock the audience with something fresh, they just come out and say "Yeah, it's just like ID4 but they stole from us first!" That felt very cheap to me. There were quite a few face palms in the first 15 minutes and I would have rather watched some more Terminator : SCC epsidoes. This pilot episode seemed like nothing more than a hurry job to introduce the characters and lacked any attempt at art or true story telling. Rather than build up the story and let the resistance become a natural organic thing, they just throw it in there. A 45 minute pilot for a show they've spent the last few weeks pushing with endless commercials and PR? Really? For some reason I feel this was going to be a two hour long episode but they cut it down for some unknown reason.

Pay no attention to me, I'm tired of garbage television. I guess in this economy they're going to try to blend as many television genres as possible into one show to cut costs....

It really wasnt all that bad, I actually enjoyed it. Luckily I never watched the original series and I didnt read too much about this series before it aired, all I saw was the commercials. I find it to be an interesting take on the Alien Invasion deal, Its kinda like a television sequal to "First Wave" in a way, because that show was all about the aliens that live among us, before the invasion takes place. Just for that reason, I hope they get the star from that show in here just for fun!

As for the storyline, yes it was a bit rushed, they should have had a 2 hour premiere and slowed down the pacing a bit, but It was still pretty well done. I find the acting to be decent, the plot is definetely intriguing and the visuals/effects are pretty good as well. Out of all the new shows this season, I might say this one is looking the best so far. Its a shame they are going to only air 4 episodes before a long hiatus until Spring.

This show might just be better then Flashforward....

wow are they kidding with this, i watched the first series as a kid. couldnt even get threw the first 1/2 hour. i feel though abc as a network is just horrible, i cant think of one show i watch on it.. but over all they made a serious mockery of the original , and no im not a hater i never weigh in .. simply a disgrace.

When is the next installment on? Part 1 was pretty darn good!
