The Sci Fi channel has released a new promo trailer for a new series called Caprica

Trailer - http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?c...14&id=57977

Information Source - http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Caprica_%28series%29

Overview
The Sci Fi Channel will delve into the back story of Battlestar Galactica with a new series that looks at the creation of the race of robots known as Cylons by the humans of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol and the eventual revolt of the Cylons against their human masters, which will lead the two races to become locked to the death in a bitter war for their respective survivals. Caprica begins over 50 years before the Ronald D. Moore-created Battlestar Galactica series.

As Battlestar Galactica is about a lot more than space battles, Caprica will be as much family drama as sci-fi tale. Remi Aubuchon (The Lyon's Den, 24) is writing the pilot script with co-writer (and executive producer) Ronald D. Moore; "Galactica" veterans Ronald D. Moore and David Eick will executive produce it. The two-hour pilot will be directed by Jeff Reiner (Friday Night Lights).[2]

Plot summary
It should be kept in mind that, while this information comes from reliable sources, the series is still in production, and some details - such as names, events and character backgrounds - may still change to a certain degree. Caprica will take place more than fifty years before the events of the Re-imagined Series. It will follow the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adams[3] (the family of William Adama). When the series begins, a startling development is about to occur - the creation of the first cybernetic life-form node or "Cylon"[4].

The Graystone family includes the father Daniel and mother Amanda, a computer scientist and surgeon respectively. When their daughter Zoe dies due to the religious fanaticism of her boyfriend, Ben Stark, her father manages to resurrect her - after a fashion. Already having Zoe-A, a digital clone of her personality, he uses stolen technology to create a robotic version of his daughter, known as Zoe-R, the first step towards creating the Cylon race.

The same terrorist attack claimed the lives of Joseph Adama's wife and daughter, Tamara. Together with Daniel Graystone he works on bringing back their children, but is appalled at his partner's methods and ethics. However, as a result of this tragedy, he grows closer to his 9-year old son, William Adama. [5]

Thanks for the links...

This movie however it sucks its like one big long yawn that does not stop except for the occasional sneak peak at the cylon begining. It disappoints me that they would half ass finish bsg. No i for one don'/t count that last episode of bsg as its end. It was a half ass attempt at closeing a story that had another year to go atleast. To this crap. I hope they all get fired and new blood gets drawn into the over paid writers guild... frack it fire them all the whole damn guild and hire some grade school kids to write. I mean atleast they would keep it interesting.

I mean i was sooo freaking bored during this movie i ened up skipping through it just to see the cylcon parts. If i had bought this on dvd i would demand my money back.

DISAGREE'D! BSG was a drama. If it was not for the dilemmas of the human condition written into the drama of this series then the human/cylon conflict would have been another pointless sci-fi show with a big budget. Which is exactly what stargate atlantis became and why it was cancelled. I have a feeling that if caprica keeps pressing current issues in a compelling dramatic format (which is why BSG won best TV drama) the show will unfold in an exciting and thought provoking manner. JUST LIKE BATTLE STAR GALLACTICA!

PS if it wasn’t for all the drama “crap” and love blah blah blah, we wouldn’t of seen the crazy ass ending with centurians and colonians infiltrating the enemy bay star. I nearly shat my frackin pants at the beginning of that episode! (last half of the episode was a little lame…)

It's just the pilot. I'm sure we'll see better episodes. Besides the sci-fi scenes were pretty good neverless.

the majority of the african-american characters on bsg were from saggitaron(sp?), with the exception of elosha, who was from gemenon.

oh, and i'm not picking on you, but it's "white collar."

that said, i enjoyed it thoroughly, particularly esai morales' character. the only thing that bugged me was that it took place 58 years "before the fall," which i'm assuming means the first cylon war takes place in 18 years, and the "fall" refers to the beginning of the new bsg. if 58 years has passed between the start of caprica and the start of bsg, that makes william adama, in bsg played by edward james olmos, between 69-70 years old at the START of the series, in his mid-70s by the end of the series(it's mentioned in caprica that william is 11). olmos never played him as nearly that old, and the webisodes that were aired on sci-fi showed an at-best, 22 year old bill adama fighting in the original cylon war, 40 years prior to the "fall.", putting him in his early 60s, which was how i felt olmos played it.

also, not that i don't like boobies, but did anyone else feel that the show was a bit on the gratuitous side with the v-club's topless women and lesbianism? if this is going to be the starting point for a series, one would think they're gonna have to air it at some point on basic cable television.

at any rate, thanks for the treat of getting to watch this earlier than released smile.gif

Um...no I didn't.....many people confuse the word Buffer with Load (or Download).

"Buffering" is not "Loading" (or Downloading).....Buffering is the stoppage of play to compensate for the difference in playing speed and downloading speed.

Correction. Buffering is downloading data from the video host...into a buffer. If you reach the end of the buffer, the player has to buffer more before you can continue playing it.

You would never be able to play a video properly without some sort of buffer. Period. Even if you downloaded the video at the exact same rate at which it were supposed to play (unlikely, a freak accident), you wouldn't be able to display it packet-by-packet---there's not enough data per packet to show a complete frame. So you'd still have to read the data into a buffer before you displayed a frame of video. Buffering is *not* stopping. It is part of how streams---and not just streaming video on the Internet, but most kinds of I/O---work.

But you're correct in one sense. Most people do confuse the word "buffer" with "load" or "download." You've just made the distinction the wrong way.

What are you guys talking about?! I bet you that the first season will document the creation of the centurions and the later seasons will actually show their revolt, rise, and the first colonial war. Some of you are forgetting that the first war happened 40 years before BSG. If I recall the intro said this was 58 years before the fall, now remember that Ron Moore likes to fast forward when necessary so I figure after a clear explanation is laid out about the rise of Cyclon AI Caprica will jump into the start of the revolt.

Can't wait to have my weekly fix of BSG on Fridays again.

I've just watched this and think it's brill.

Really looking forward to the series smile.gif

It would not have worked without teenagers, after all, it is they that have the computer knowledge and know-how wink.gif

its just a tv story if you dont like it dont watch it and stop bleating about how bad you think it is, if you like it good for you i thought it was good and hope they carry on with the story smile.gif
mrneil001
Watched it, twice, and thought it was great too! Dont understand where the haters are getting all this stuff from..
Still has that dark feel that BSG gave.. theres no teenage drama like people said.. its deep how they portrayed what a father will do if they had the ability to bring a family member back from the dead. Someone expecting an all out battle with the cylons really didnt do any reasearch of what this series was going be all about.. which is how the cylons first developed, not jumping directly into the first cylon war.

Great beginning to a great series!

The whole setup... it's perfect für a tv show and it will easily sustain a great season !
It's possible to build a bridge to "Battlestar Gallactica" ! I only hope they won't stretch the show too much.
I'd say three to four seasons should be enough!
