I cannot believe this. I love David Tennant so much, he is a fantastic Doctor Who. Like debloree said, he will be a hard act to follow. But I have not ever seen this guy before and I watch a lot of British television for an American. So my fingers are crossed that he will be good enough to fill Tennant's shoes because I would hate to stop watching it, it is my one of my favorite shows.

I don't know about obsessed... he'll have to prove his metal as the Dr., and if he does then people will accept him. I'll give him a fair shot because I love the uniqueness of the show. It will give him a wide berth to settle into his role. Keep your fingers crossed that he does the Dr. justice.

dr who is one of the most poorly made programmes on telly. it really is, each episode must cost no more than £5.17. Art Attack do the sets at a guess and the teletubbies do the camera work.
I think the 'effects' are done by the original computer there that terrible.
never heard of the guy doing it, but hey thats cos i dont watch it.
if whats up doc who is the best britain can offer, the american are lightyears ahead of us in TV. we are capable of making great programming but with BBCs track record in program making, other than top gear its awful.

...i have to agree with you on the fact that we are eons behind the US on quality TV,can you imagine the BBC spending £1 million on each episode of dr who like the yanks do on heroes...

to be fair, i dopnt like it, so im biased against it, but i do know the tacky ness is part of the appeal so if people like it, then they aint gonna stop for simple cosmetics are they.
and 1million per episode of heros, quite hefty that.
theres no need to spend that sort of money, films hgave been made on budgets like that and done reasonably well so thats just taking it to far.
im actually supprised there isnt a american rip off of dr who, which they then claim they created in the first place, loike that film....the enigma code. lol

Jan 12 2009, 07:35 PM
you're right, the tackiness is part of what people like. I wouldn't want them to change anything. It's one of those shows you either love it or hate it. Me, I love it, I'll take it just the way it is.

I believe the Easter Special 'Planet of the Dead' is the 1st of 4 specials which finishes the David Tennant chapter of Doctor Who.
Does anybody know when the other 3 episodes air?
tardisismyhome
Apr 11 2009, 11:14 PM
RTD said in a recent
interview that the next special will air sometime in November and then the final two-parter would air around Christmas/New Year.
I think Planet of the Dead is/was the 2nd special. The first was the Christmas special (The Next Doctor).
Edited: You were right. My mistake.
QUOTE
A brief trailer for the next Doctor Who special was shown at the end of tonight's BBC One premiere of Planet of the Dead. The trailer confirmed that the next special, the second of four to be shown this year to round off David Tennant's time as the Tenth Doctor, will be called The Waters of Mars. No specific broadcast date was given - it was stated that the episode will be shown later this year. For viewers in the United Kingdom, David Tennant's fifth video diary is now online.

No I disagree. Hugh Laurie is
the Doctor. He is 1000x better than Tennant's Doctor. Its probably not fair to Tennant that he had to play the role at the same time Laurie did his amazing work on House, but, there's no doubt if one of them had to go off the airwaves, I'd prefer Tennant to leave and wouldn't think twice about it.

Are you daft? "the doctor" means Dr. Who, not "House MD". and by and by House hasnt a sonic screwdriver, plus id like to see a semi-cripple abusive sarcastic drug addict try to be "the doctor". Hands down no contest.

Yes I know they are different TV shows but Hugh Laurie does an incredibly better version of "the Doctor" than Tennant could ever hope to. Tennant is ok, but nothing special. He's almost annoying with his constant frantic demeanor.

Just because someone has a differing view on things doesn't make them a troll. I find Tennant to be rather unremarkable. He's ok, but definitely not great in the role.

I second that. Although I was first introduced to DW through Season 3's Smith and Jones, when I went back to watch Season 1, I was a tad disappointed Eccleston didn't continue.
Now it's happening again with Tennant.
I reckon it's because we really don't know what Matt Smith can do. I'd still watch though just because... well it's Doctor Who!

I have been following the series since tom baker and i for one have seen this every time the doctor regenerates people get mad. LOL i love it I mean i was like

when tom baker left the who series. I have to say that David Tennent will be sorely missed as he had the best take on the doctor since tom baker. i am sure this new guy will do great if not then all i can say is REGENERATION. LOL
now all you nay sayers about doctor who........ never mind no point in even starting that argument. It would be like a christian trying to convert an atheist or vice versa.
Doctor Who is one of those shows either you love it or hate it. Considering its long running from 1963 till now with breaks in between its proven itself as an awesome series that has stood the test of time.
I for one cannot wait for more doctor who
