Good god, what is the deal with British shows having so few episodes? Are their ratings requirements for renewing a show soo much higher than here in the US?
My understanding from interviews I have seen is that less episodes per year = quality versus quantity and also allows the actors to pursue other interests.
Off the top of my head some US shows that followed suit are Weeds, Californication, Eureka, The 4400, Monk, Psych, Nurse Jackie and Dollhouse. I personally would rather have less episodes with a better storyline than drawing out the storyline until it becomes too thin to want to follow.
