That's funny because she's from
there. I guess all these years working in Canada have ruined her, grin.

So the Sanctuary show airing on Friday Oct. 3rd on SciFi will be the 1st episode of the 2nd season of it? Wow, looks like I missed out the whole 1st season.

Not so, go back to the links thread, I left a message there about the links that still work, grin.

Ya know, I watched most of SG1 and some of the SGA series. I LOVED SG1, hated Carter with a passion. Liked SGA, still hated Carter. I don't think I'll be an active viewer on this show because every time I'd watch all I'll see is Carter, it doesn't matter what lengths Tapping goes to towards creating a new character, all I'll see is Carter...
Such a shame too. A potentially good scifi show watch ruined for me.

That's too bad Deb. I'm not a particularly huge Tapping fan either & I find this show fascinating. It's the concept of an alternative species that gets my attention & that there is someone trying to assist them.

you just wait for Michael Shanks to appear. Because he will. Sooner or later. And then his wife will come, and then the whole freaking SG1 crew...
That's what I dislike most about most of sci-fi series. Same 3 or 4 actors ALWAYS find their way to the other shows and basically ruin the whole 'new show' experience. It's like baking a different pie using the same ingridients, but in different order and quantity.
SG1, SGA, Firefly and now Eureka... they all are in those shows in one form or another and it pisses me off.
Are there no other actors in Canada? Really?
On a side note, the show's idea is fascinating and I will give it a chance, but as soon as I spot Dr. Jackson I swear I will loose it.

Whew, take a breath, it'll be ok, suspension of disbelief & not getting overly attached to faces or lack thereof will help considerably. Another alternative is to not watch or discuss it, grin. I'd hate to lose your discussion though.

Now to stay on topic does anyone know if the series on fox is going to have new shows or is it gonna be a rehash of the Web-episodes from the site.
EDIT just realized i am probably gonna get hit with the death dealer axe lol where is the discussion forumn again.
New season here, besides, FOX was never mentioned anywhere, get off the pipe, snicker.

Right, finding the links will be good fun. Nothing like a new season to get the blood going.

It was the same concept all shot new with some replaced actors and more spotlight for other actors then the original web episodes. It wouldn't of made much sense to the public whom hadn't seen the them on the web to go directly to all new episodes.

I just saw it, and I couldn't disagree with you more.
QUOTE(bluecadillac @ Oct 4 2008, 04:10 AM)

Executive producer Amanda Tapping likens the televised version of Sanctuary to a second season rather than a retelling of the first. "We're not taking the webisodes and putting them on the air," she said. "We're creating all new content to flesh out the mythology and story line."
If you enjoyed the webisodes, you'll enjoy these new episodes even more. The webisodes can be compared to a sketch, and the episodes to fully rendered paintings with significant additions and changes.

They switched in the black man that got that spiked ball in his chest. Not a bad synopsis though (1x01/1x02). Can't wait to see "the others."
Edit: 1x03 - Fata Morgana, more of the same, no original content, sigh.
1x04 - Folding Man, finally something new, 'bout damn time. Interesting anomaly this folding, not to mention no-man & the gold.

1x05 - Kush
Totally bogus waking up in a plane crash in the Himalayans. Nice how mister doubting Thomas guy defined the Kush mountains as what the native people call it, snowy mountians that kill the people.
Fascinating plot concept about using the dreaming mind to distract the victims to die without a struggle or to not notice or awaken during the killing.
That last scene where Mangus kills the creature was pretty good.

1x06 - Nubbins
Very similar to Star Trek - The Trouble With Tribbles, grin. Adorable furry creatures that reproduce like crazy, yet "these" ones are smart & voracious.
Not to mention the pheromone thing. I was wondering who was going to get it on with whom. Ashley came the closest, laughs.
That scene towards the end where they are planning the round-up, Henry walks in & says, "I've got wood" excellent timing, carrying an armful of wood no less.
Sophie came in handy, should be interesting to see if she appears again or not. She's not even listed in the IMDb episode info. TV.com does, could be too early for wiki.

1x07 - The Five
What a dilemma. Interupted during her seminar by none other that the long dead genius Nikola Tesla, who goes on to tell us a thing of two about history & the five that made it, grin.
Turns out that Tesla, Magnus, John Druitt & two others were the ones that together formed a group of scientists in the mid to late 1800's at Oxford that did great things at a great price. By taking pure vampire blood injections they became abnormals in a sense, all of a different variety. Tesla of course had some dormant vampire genes which manifested into full-on vampire mode.
He also told us why the cabal is after him & not Magnus so much. Seems his real purpose is to revive the vampire race with himself as the leader after devising a way to turn humans into mindless obedient vampires.
Meanwhile John Druitt, Magnus' old flame & Ashley's father, has a heart to heart with his daughter, explaining things about how he is the forgotten family member & such. Ashley is none too pleased about this & resists to the end where she relents to reality & the two of them arrive just in time to save Helen.
Oh yeah, let's not forget that Henry, Will & manservant freakshow are all back at HQ learning about some creature on the grounds that is tearing the place apart. Turns out that Henry is a bit of an abnormal too & Will learns in the end that it's not so bad.

1x08 - Edward
The tragic opening shows us that a troubled father dies mysteriously & a highly functional autistic boy/son (Edward) saw the whole thing.
It turns out that this boy is quite artistic & can draw from memory what most of us can only draw from a photograph. We also learn that the mother helped cover for the boy as well.
Henry is also evolving with his abnormalcy & isn't too happy about it. Dr. Magnus offers him a surgical procedure which could also change his very personality.
We find out that Edward had a brother (Robbie) who is MIA & may be a link to all this. When Will & Magnus interview him further they find out that he has an ability besides his art, he can shoot heat rays from his eyes. It turns out, after drawning it all out for them, that his father had the same ability & is the reason why his brother Robbie ran away, so he could have his own life. It is also determined from the drawings put together from that night, that Robbie showed up & disarmed a drunken father, whom ignited the shotgun shells with his heat vision, thereby confirming that it was in fact a suicide. Case solved.
Henry ends up being the one that finds Robbie, or smells him & the brothers are reunited. In the end, Henry chooses not to undergo the surgery, which means we are in for a treat as he changes into his abnormal self.

1x09 - Requiem
While underwater in the submarine Nautilus, William & Magnus are responding to a distress call. Interestingly enough it is in what is known as the Bermuda Triangle & this is not lost on William.
They soon find that the mer-people have been slaughtered by a mysterious predator. When they try to surface, the good doctor gets a case of what appears to be the bends. They go back down to give her a chance to recuperate & figure out the cause.
Turns out she's infected with a parasite of sorts, the same one that infected the mer-people that caused them to turn on themselves & kill each other with ravage insanity. It's just a matter of time until Magnus is in this state as they are forced to go deeper & deeper to avoid it.
It finally happens & she ends up subduing William, who escapes & doesn't have the resources to keep her at bay. She forces him to kill her & while the parasite leaves her body, he gases it with liquid nitrogen, then revives her to save the day.

Thank you... It's been driving me up the wall, I couldn't think what they reminded me of, but of course those Tribbley things!!! i guess each has their own, we never saw them but i reckon the Furlings from SG1 would have been a bit like those too... maybe bigger though! MEH!

1x10 - Warriors
Will gets a message from an old friend who needs his help finding her spouse. We find out he's been scooped up by the cabaal as a guinea pig for their new forumula that makes abnormals. The test subjects are made to participate in a fight-club setting.
Magnus also finds another homeless man in one of the previous fight locations. Turns out it's her father Gregory Magnus & we are treated to the whole family dynamic & how he is actually under the influence of a scarab implanted in the back of his neck, very Goa'uld like in nature, snicker.
Meanwhile, Will finds out a thing or two about his friend & gets caught & transformed himself. While he is fighting for his life, Helen is removing the scarab in her fathers neck, at the last minute when she gets it out, he blurts out the fight location & Will is saved by Henry & Ashley.
The end is a bit of a bummer in that Gregory Magnus chooses not to stay with his family.

Couldn't find a thread about sanctuary so thought i would start one.
I cant say im too happy about how the latest episode ends.
I guess the questions on my lips is are they really killing Ashley off? and is the new character meant to replace her role?

They skipped two weeks though didn't they so we wouldn't have to put up with all the grieving.
I would've loved to have seen John going all Jack The Ripper on the Cabal though.
