Using an elaborate con, along with his quick wit and unique charm, he wiles his way into the heart of Ouisa Kittredge, and into the good graces of husband Flan - a New York City art dealer to the obscenely rich and famous. By the time the couple realize they've been conned, it's much too late for them to do anything about it - and they also must admit that Paul has taken nothing tangible from them. Rather, he has ignited their too-long stagnant sparks of imagination and wonder and, in so doing, has changed their lives indelibly. The outstanding cast includes Will Smith, Donald Sutherland, Stockard Channing, Ian McKellen, Mary Beth Hurt, Bruce Davison and Anthony Michael Hall. The brilliant screen/play was written by John Guare, whose real-life inspiration for the character of Paul, David Hampton, died of AIDS in 2003. The movie was directed by Fred Schepisi.
